Wow getting a double barrel from cancer sucks - especially bone cancer. I feel bad for her and the people who cared for her.
However, she was an atrocious actress who marred every Clint flim she was in. Even the supremely awesome Outlaw Josey Wales has a Sandra Locke wart on it.

Wow, she apparently pissed off people, I guess. I liked her. Most of the movies she was in with Clint weren't exactly stellar examples of cinema, so I can't imagine she's the one that ruined them. Unless there are some folks here who believe Every Which Way But Loose was Oscar worthy. In which case, all I can say is...sorry?
The three non-silly movies I can think of off the top of my head are:
The aforementioned Josey Wales - thankfully while she is his love interest, it's a relatively minor role compared to:
Sudden Impact - She's just awful in this and she's the main antagonist. This would have been WAY better with a more capable actress.
The Gauntlet - Again she is the female lead. It would be way better without her.
I don't care about her inclusion in the silly movies. Thankfully she was way too old to be in and ruin Million Dollar Baby.
Again, I feel bad for her and the people who cared for her, but she sucked as an actress.

I never said she was ugly. She did look a lot like the boy in Let the Right One In in Josey Wales though. That is not debatable. She was not a typical Hollywood beauty and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I never saw a performance that struck me as good, but I also never saw her with material that was good. I have no opinion of her as an actress. That might be due to the allegations that Eastwood blackballed her, which would be unfortunate if true. I LOVE Eastwood and that doesn't sit well with me.

Then don't research his affair with Jean Seberg, his costar in Paint Your Wagon, and the effect it had on her.

There have been articles pointing how she is only being talked about as Eastwood's former girlfriend, not being remembered for her own accomplishments. I remember seeing her in a long line of Eastwood movies, so she kind of put herself in that position. It's not like she was just his girlfriend for a time, or that she did a movie with him. The main part of her career in movies was working with him in his movies, and that was her choice to do that. So I think these 'Eastwood's ex-gf' RIPs are fair.

The ugly claims in a RIP thread.
edit: oh...right...internet. I forgot.
I think Unagi's point is that subjective opinions on her appearance are subjective opinions on her appearance. Suggesting that one is inappropriate in an RIP thread while previously offering your own is what Unagi wants you to realize.
Or the internet is a bad place that doesn't share your views because it's bad. That's also an acceptable conclusion.
Actually I have no idea what your saying here. Internet something something you're forgetful.
I don't think a good-hearted poke at her look in Josey Wales is out of line. Three reasons :
1. I'm willing to bet Sondra Locke did not have a profound impact on the life of anyone here. As fitting for someone of her acting credentials, this thread is purely a notifaction that she died and not a tribute.
2. We wouldn't hesitate to refer to a male actor as a character actor, which is an acceptable way to say the man wasn't terribly good looking. Comments on someone's looks aren't always taboo.
3. Her looks were already mentioned in Hepcat's post. The door had been opened.

Man, I bet Steve Buscemi's RIP thread will be brutal. Couldn't he at least get his teeth fixed?
Or Kirstsen Dunst, amirite? (I actually like the way she looks and it's totally cool that she has specifically said she won't fix her teeth to make other people happy).
I have no problem with anyone commenting on an actor's appearance, be they living or dead. It's part of the (most) job. Suggesting that it's inappropriate to comment negatively on an actor's appearance in an RIP thread, shortly after you commented positively on that appearance in the same thread, is particularly unreasonable in my opinion.
From an all too early age I understood the Locke-Eastwood flame. The power of poon will make one overlook short comings. Sudden Impact is all the more I need to say on that subject.
I don't think any of the Dirty Harry films could've been saved by a different cast, to be honest. Eastwood eventually matured though and has given us some truly great films (Unforgiven being one of my favorites), but his early directorial stuff was mediocre at best for the most part. I went back and watched The Outlaw Josey Wales a few months ago after getting it on sale on a streaming service, and watching it was almost painful at times. Especially after binging on the Eastwood and Leone films...which were friggin' magnificent. But Eastwood was young, and you could see he was trying to mimic the stuff he'd learned from a master. He eventually developed his own style, but it wasn't until after the eighties, in my opinion
The Outlaw Josey Wales is a classic. No, it's not a Leone or Pekinpah or Ford or Sturges or Hawks or...wait, what was my point again? Oh yeah, I love that movie for one specific scene that I think makes it all worth it:
Ten Bears "These things you say we will have, we already have."
Wales "That's true. I ain't promising you nothing extra."
