Baby shark do do d’do do d’do

Post by geezer »

I heard this last night. Now I can’t stop hearing it. Even worse, my wife’s name has the same cadence and rhymes with “baby shark” So now I’m hearing that too. Mostly bc we’re running around singing it. :/. Gonna be a long weekend.

My wife came home from grocery shopping one day with slices of baby Swiss. It went as you would expect.

You haven't lived until you've heard your kid sing a "giant poo, do do do do do do..." rendition while they stand there squeezing out an actual giant poo into their diaper, cackling like a super villian when finished.

But yeah it is annoying and catchy at the same time. I hate it.

I lived in terror of accidentally hearing this, after listening to so many horror stories from parents about how catchy it was. Finally I broke down and watched the whole thing and...........I'm apparently immune to its effects. Maybe if I heard it over and over it would cast its magical spell, but so far - meh.

Ok, I had to go look up the original. As far as annoying kid ear worms goes it's completely fine. There have been so many more super annoying songs of this nature that it doesn't even register.

Sure, I've only heard it once, and if I had young kids I'd have to hear it a billion times, and that would change things. Hell, "what the fox says" made me want to exterminate all foxes on my first, partial listening of it.

Bonus points for having singers/voice actors sound like their corresponding familial positions.

edit: Ok, I'm returning for round 2. This is not good.

Started singing it under my breath with my headphones on and my middle son on the other computer immediately exclaimed "oh god!"

I laughed my ass off.

That is sheer insanity. That shark was 18-20' long EASY. One of my worst fears. Hell, I climb out of a pool with reckless abandon because I envision one of those bastards behind me.

Thankfully, our 5 year old is done with his Pink Fong/Baby Shark days. It was fun to torture others with older kids, though. Now, though, it's not just my kid watching it, it's everywhere. Thanks, internet meme culture.

That is a little harder. Or that song that I heard of from Glee. Fling a pinger on it. Put a finger on it? The Beyonce one. Lots of "Oh"'s.

I can see how that would wear out its welcome in a hurry. And dammit, now I have a really unwelcome earworm. Should be easy to dislodge though.

I hear screwdrivers fit nicely into ears. Well, read, as I can't hear anything anymore because of said "fix".

I started humming while making dinner and my eldest son told me that I'm not doing it right and that I'm missing 1 or 2 beats in there. Turns out it made the rounds at his high school recently.

I picked this up after a whisper a few months ago. I thought it had maybe passed by OO without an infection, but alas, it just hadn't hit yet.

Thanks for all the reminders. :hawk:

Slate's podcast Decoder Ring makes an attempt to hunt down the origins of the Baby Shark song. More interesting than I expected.

I've heard this song a few times but it seems I am immune to it's so called ear worminess. Not the super power I would have picked for myself but better than nothing.

Repetition with slight variation keeps it just interesting enough.
Or so I was told in the podcast I linked above.

15 years from now, some club DJ is going to spin a "Baby Shark" remix...and the place is going to go nuts.
