Earth Hour

Post by Jaymann »

It is an hour where everyone is encouraged to turn their lights out and celebrate. It's on Saturday, March 30 at 8:30 PM. Sounds kind of fun.

The problem is that computers operate on electricity.

You can see the dilemma.

I don't consider a computer to be a light. But I'm sure we could light some candles and play with the kids for an hour.

I think the point is to reduce electricity usage. Lights at night are symbolic of that. I can probably do the candles, it's the second part that has me worried.

My wife works double-shift on Saturday night so I have the kids to deal with. It is already typical for me to try to get them into bed by 8:30 and then turn off all of the lights in the house and hide in the basement (where my computer resides) in hope they get the hint that it's time to sleep.
