Cynical Songs
I was shuffling through some of my songs and Hook by Blues Traveller came on. It struck me at the time how cynical the song is.

I'm partial to "Evolutionary Sleeper", but ymmv.
Oh, cynical tracks. Never mind then.

Re: Cynical Songs
Would Delilah by Tom Jones be considered cynical? I used to sing it, until I comprehended the lyrics, then it just sounds f***ing scary.

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

Re: Cynical Songs
There are literally hundreds. Two I have listened to recently:
Wherever You Go, Tossers.
Excerpt:
Bill of goods, Face to Face.
Excerpt:
Wherever You Go, Tossers.
Excerpt:
May you lay awake roaring in misery and woe
And be quickly defeated wherever you go
And wherever you go, Whatever you do
May you suffer the curse of god on you
May you lose the eyes from your miserable face
And spend all your days here in scorn and disgrace
May not one of your prayers or your wishes come true
May you be confounded whatever you do
Bill of goods, Face to Face.
Excerpt:
Try to convince you that you can't live without one
Hey look around man everybody's got one
So hurry up get your dollar bills together
They're going to try and get you something even better
You're not so sure but you heard it's great
You get there first so you won't be late
Everybody else will have to wait in line
I overestimated you
You knew that I probably would
We're so predictable
We've been sold a bill of goods
