RIP Leon Redbone

Post by A nonny mouse »

Man, I can remember listening to his stuff when I was a kid.

Leon Redbone gone at 69.

Another I would have thought was WAY older.
I find television very educational. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book. - Groucho Marx

I was a fan. Never saw him live but I have a couple of his CDs.

Well, his family did state that he died at 127.

That makes me sad. I always loved his Sweet Lorraine. :(

I saw a commercial on late night TV. It said, "Forget everything you know about slipcovers." So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were. -- Mitch Hedberg

What a character. I’d forgotten all about him, to be honest. But watching these videos has brought numerous memories of a consummate performer and showman who was a master of both his craft and his identity. They don’t make them like that anymore. He will be sorely missed.
He won. Period.

I do think of him sometimes, mostly when I find myself singing "Dancing on Daddy's Shoes" for no particular reason. One of my favourites and, no doubt, because it's something that I loved to do with my girls.

I got to see him play live once, back in 1990, when my friend's mother took a bunch of us to a show in Philadelphia as a present for college graduation.
