Re: The Indefatigable 2020 Weight Loss Thread
I've decided that I'm never going to get down to my original weight, and I'm okay with that. Nine pounds eight ounces is just not realistic.

Re: The Indefatigable 2020 Weight Loss Thread
I March of last year I started working out. I didn't miss a single day in over a year, save for the two that I was effectively blinded by an eye injury. Then when the shit hit the fan this year I ended up exhausted and stressed for a couple of weeks and waved off everything, including my workout. Now it's been almost five months and I'm still not back to it. And I've set a day "Wednesday I'll start back up!" at least a half a dozen times.

Hello to all! What is the main reason for you to lose weight?
I have this reduction in portions of food, and light exercise.

To cheat death another day. Of course, results are all over the place as lately living long is a lot less attractive than it used to be.EvaaWill89 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 10, 2020 4:33 am Hello to all! What is the main reason for you to lose weight?

My wife think the scale is defective. It keeps going lower for me through no specific effort, but doing the reverse for her despite her best efforts.coopasonic wrote: ↑Mon Aug 17, 2020 11:21 am I bought a scale!

I've been going through a similar oddity.coopasonic wrote:It keeps going lower for me through no specific effort, but doing the reverse for her despite her best efforts.
Eat salads every day for lunch - no change.
Eat salads every day for lunch, but incorporate daily strength training - no change.
Eat salads every day for lunch, incorporate daily strength training and occasional running: =1.0 lb.
Figure this isn't working and go back to eating fast food for lunch twice a week, drop the daily strength training. MINUS 5 POUNDS!

I lost 15 pounds from January to September and gained back 11 in the last month due to stress eating and poor diet control. Feeling awesome about myself.

Re: The Indefatigable 2020 Weight Loss Thread
Finishing 14 weeks of training and watching my macros - I'm down 35lbs off "peak Covid fat" and the muscle gain is ridiculous. It's been 7 years since I've been this weight (and I'm a hell of a lot more in shape than back then). I'm going to take a week off training (watching macros) and start again for another 12 weeks to get through the holiday period. The trainer isn't cheap, but it's the best money I've spent on myself.
Now if only people weren't buying weight plates to resell (read: Gouge) I'd be happier. I have a universal machine that's pretty good and dumb bells up to 30lbs that were all bought pre-covid, but places (resellers) charging $3-$3.50 a pound for weight plates are predatory dick heads. It used to be 80 cents a pound last year.
So for now I continue with what I have, I refuse to pay through the nose and look forward to the day this disease is in the rear view and these assholes are stuck with a ton of stock they can't move because gyms are open again.

Re: The Indefatigable 2020 Weight Loss Thread
Since becoming unemployed in June, I've managed to only gain about 3 lbs. I do exercise more, average more than 10,000 steps a day, been doing some biking (nowhere near previous levels) and now that winter is approaching should start running the hamster wheel again. My doctor's appointment today was good; blood pressure down, A1C in spitting distance of normal, and the rest of the labs perfect. So naturally I get home and celebrate with a beer.
I probably shouldn't do that if I want to see better weight loss results.

Re: The Indefatigable 2020 Weight Loss Thread
Starting with the lockdown when food choice was limited, I started gaining weight. It was exacerbated when the kids left school and disrupted my workout (yes, that's largely an excuse) enough that I fell out of the habit completely. I've reached a point now where I'm not willing to gain any more, and need to the effects of 2020 on my system. I can't start a new workout routine for another month or so (not an excuse this time), but I'm going to do what I can in the meantime.

Re: The Indefatigable 2020 Weight Loss Thread
I stopped caring about losing weight when 2020 started throwing so many curve balls, and decided holding the line would be good enough. Unfortunately, I have very slowly crept up a couple of pounds, and now that winter's here they aren't going away.
I'm going to break 600 miles walking for the first time in 5 years, though, so my overall fitness is good for a fat guy. There are way too many days when my morning walk is the only time I leave the house. I go to the grocer on Thursdays and the packie on Saturdays; otherwise, I'm home.

Re: The Indefatigable 2020 Weight Loss Thread
Completed my annual physical at the clinic and my blood sugar is normal, A1C is 5.2 which is the best news I could get! Two years ago they were trying to refer me to a diabetes clinic because I was in the high pre-diabetic range blood sugar wise.
Happy to (for the time) have that in the rear view, all blood work is perfect as well as BP etc. Going to keep on keeping on, have about 5-6% bodyfat that I still need to shed but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel finally.

Yeah my blood work from a couple of weeks ago came back really good. I've been on cholesterol meds for awhile now, so that was looking spot-on. Everything else had remained the same or improved slightly from last year. Doc was happy and told me to keep on doing what I was doing.
I've kind of given up on meaningful weight loss until after the weather gets warmer. Goal right now is to just not gain 10 pounds over the winter. If I can keep close to where I'm at now, I should be in good starting position in the spring.

Re: The Indefatigable 2020 Weight Loss Thread
I stepped on a scale for the first time since February yesterday. Was pleasantly surprised to see that I've gone down almost 12 pounds since then (237 to 225).
It hasn't really be a concerted dieting effort, more just consistency. Same thing for breakfast and lunch every day while working from home. Plus, not eating shitty hotel bar food while on the road 3-4 days a week helps.

I haven't walked at all this week, but I did spend around 6 hours (so far) raking. Should be able to finish that chore tomorrow.

Re: The Indefatigable 2020 Weight Loss Thread
Pro tip: do this when it's really windy out and make sure you give the leaves a little lift. Then the bagging chore becomes the problem of whoever is downwind.
I've had at least 3 5-mile walk days this week, total count arrives tomorrow.

Re: The Indefatigable 2020 Weight Loss Thread
One side of my house is a windbreak. Every leaf in the neighborhood eventually ends up there. Got the job done today; after figuring out that my leaf blower is permanently munged, I ended up having to rake out the beds and borders, so it took longer than expected. The last several loads ended up getting spread over "the back 40" as mulch.
The back 40 is a 40-foot strip along a fence that I let go native.

Re: The Indefatigable 2020 Weight Loss Thread
Time to close out 2020.
TOTAL +2.7
Miles walked this week 22.6 (all of December)
Miles walked this year: 652.6
Miles walked 2020: 652.6
Miles walked 2019: 488.8
Miles walked 2018: 449.4
Miles walked 2017: 514.5
Miles walked 2016: 725.8
Miles walked 2015: 593.9
Miles walked 2014: 735.7
December was not a good month. I didn't walk much and threw dietary restraint out the window. Funny how the holidays can clobber you even when you aren't really participating in them -- I just made too many comfort-food meals. I suppose I should be glad that I only gained not-quite-3 lbs in the Year of Covid...I can lose that back next year if I don't keep packing on more the rest of the winter.
On the plus side, thanks in part to pandemic cabin fever, I racked up the most miles since 2016.

Re: The Indefatigable 2020 Weight Loss Thread
I like to check this thread hoping it will motivate me to lose some weight. I think I need a weight gain thread. That one would be much easier to participate in.
