Does it have to be current?

Just finished watching all four seasons of Top Shot, where various shooters go up against each other for prize of 100K, and they have to use all sorts of different weapons, hand guns, rifles, primitive weapons (bows and arrows, crossbow). I think they even used rocks and slingshots. On, and cannons. Real authentic small caliber cannons. Season 4 they brought in the multi-shot grenade launcher. It was kinda entertaining.

Started on a history show called "American Guns", where they went over all the guns, from the French and British imports that helped us win the Revolutionary War down to modern stuff. I'm a couple episodes in, so I'm just on founding of Colt and how a guy by surname of Walker made Colt really famous by equipping the first Texas Rangers with the large caliber revolvers that became known as the Colt Walker (1847).

I honestly didn't realize Cinemax was still around. The last I remember of them they were specializing in erotic films with names like Sudden Obsession and Dangerous Temptation, starring Tanya Roberts, Shannon Tweed and Ramon Estevez.

Looks pretty good...well, okay, I'll watch pretty much anything with him. The vibe is reminiscent of his character in Deep State (which we still need to finish watching almost 2 years later  )

Ah, you bring back memories of my junior high summers in the early 80s. They always had some really crazy shit on late at night.

I remember a French film where a scientist figured out how to harness electricity from having sex...the prototypes required "attachments"...then were later modified to plates fitted under the mattress. Science!

Watched that American gun series to the end. Learned something.

From there on, went to "Forgotten Weapons", a one-guy show about this guy who's a firearms historian, Ian McCollum. He goes around the world inspecting and disassembles (and reassembles) rare, unique, and often forgotten weapons of history, and goes into context and history about the weapon's design. He's been at it since 2011 and by now have a couple HUNDRED episodes covering guns I never knew existed. Some are pretty darn obscure, but there are a few like... You knew there's the M1 Thompson submachinegun, and there's the M3 "Grease gun". But did you ever wonder what happened to the M2? Yes, it existed. And yes, he was able to take one apart and explain how it works, and how M3 was simpler and better. He also got access to a lot of the weird weapons, like a genuine H&K G11, the caseless ammo firing experimental assault rifle, but he also goes back into history, like the evolution of weapons from black powder to smokeless, and some weird stuff like the Khyber Pass and Chinese/Vietnamese shanzhai copies of weapons done with "primitive" tools.

Apparently they do take female students now... But in an auxiliary school down the road, not on temple grounds. After all, they are supposed to be monks. :)

Ok, I guess I wasn't familiar with the 87 version. I mostly remember the 1993 version.

I think I watched the G11 one. I want to say that Brian posted it. It was pretty interesting.

Kind of ironic that a series that started on a streaming service is now running on a broadcast network. Kind of the reverse of what started happening with streaming services picking up cancelled network series.
