Man, gas is getting cheap!

Post by jztemple2 »

Thanks to this price war between Russia and OPEC/Saudi Arabi, gasoline is getting really cheap here in Florida. I just paid $2.02 a gallon this afternoon. Of course this is killing the American shale oil industry, or so I read in the news. Funny how just a year and a half ago I was driving home through New Mexico and West Texas and there were tons and tons of rigs, work trucks and oil workers jumping on fields that the Federal government had made available for drilling. I'm guessing most of those fields are shutting down.

$1.87 here. The lady working the fast food joint said the sign read $1.99 when she came into work this morning.

$2.05 today. Filled one care at $2.12 a couple of days ago, other car, last filled at around $2.50, will probably need filling tomorrow..

Does not make up for massive 401(k) losses though.

We are retired and living off our savings, annuities and other "financial instruments" as my wife and her financial advisor call them. We are ultra conservative in these and so are happy to live with low interest rates (I mean, low) rather than anything speculative. The way this century is going it seems to be the logical thing to do.

Gas in our area has dropped almost forty cents in the past week.

Mine (plus any SS that might still exist) ought to be sufficient to last me until death as long as I emigrate to the Philippines like my wife intends. Kids won't be out of school until I'm in my upper 70's though, so the whole "retirement" thing is a fantasy that'll likely never happen. Like winning the lottery. Which, incidentally, appears to be the only possible path to retirement.

Buying a ticket now and then would be necessary, thoough.

I paid $1.439 for premium yesterday. Knowing that it's due to the Saudis extreme shenanigans did not make me feel all that great about the situation. Wonderful for consumers, but not so hot for the producers (both in RUS and in the US). Now does not feel like a great time for extra socio-political turbulence.

$20 a barrel oil hasn't hit the refineries yet. It usually takes a couple of weeks.

My wife used accumulated store coupons and filled up the Grand Cherokee for $11 this afternoon. I think she paid 80 cents a gallon, regular price $1.90 maybe.

Don't you wish you could fill your septic tank full of it and never worry about $4 gas again?

I paid $1.81 today. Wish they had milk at their store, though.

You can but you have to buy a tanker at a time. Do the contango.

Remember when we were wringing our hands over Peak Oil?

I gassed Wife's car today but didn't notice what it cost. Somewhere around $2.25, give or take a dime. With the lockdown coming that tank will last a couple of months. Probably ought to fill up my car, too, even though I'm only driving 10 miles a week now.
