If I remember, a lot of Illinois and Cook gas taxes are per gallon not % based so we probably have a hard floor no matter how low oil/gasoline go.

Saw one article on the internet that puts it at $0.96 per gallon, but it was a nearly year-old article and it's probably higher now.

SO the car is full, and now what? it will be quite a while before I need gas again I think.

Had to run out to pick up prescriptions today and while I didn't need gas, I took note of the prices at our typical gas station. $2.00/gal for regular; $2.80/gal for premium.

Love that the $0.80 differential remains from the $5 days.

Good news! Gas prices are going back up! At least locally. By about 14 cents a gallon.

There was a reason I used to bike to work a lot in years past. Unfortunately, it's not practical now. While 23 miles each way is just a little further than previous commutes, the route weaves in and out of the Fox River valley and the hilly terrain, while good for cardio, would have me exhausted by the time I got to work.

I haven't gassed up either of our cars since March. I still have half a tank and Wife's is still full.

I haven't gotten gas in about a month and a half. But online prices show it at $1.59. So .44 cent higher.

I haven't gassed up in 6 weeks. I am putting maybe 3-5 miles on my truck each week. At this rate I won't buy gas again until around July 4th.

It was $1.98 when I went out on Monday. That is still cheap but nothing like the the $1.29 it was the time I left the house before. I leave the house again on Monday coming up. I suspect gas won't have normalized by then but it will go up to at least twofiddy which will approach pre-March trends of bouncing around under $3.

Saw gas at Walmart today for either $1.92 or $1.97. Seems weird as gas was going up around here from $2.15 to $2.45 last time I got any a month ago. Now its a lot cheaper.

EDIT: Ok looked at the online fuel finder...I guess Walmart's was actually a little high and most are $1.71. One place is $1.55.

yeah, back over $3/gallon most places here. However, after needing about a tank a week (30 miles each way commute), I've only bought 1 tank of gas since the Shelter-In-Place started mid-march. Sucks that the price war/supply dump coincided, but I'm ok with saving hundreds of dollars a month...

One of my cars hasn't left the garage since I was WFR'd a month ago. Unfortunately, while it's ostensibly her car, my wife doesn't like driving it and prefers the Rogue instead (which gets much shittier mileage). We're still throwing a tank a week into it.

I think I paid something like $2.35 for premium this week, but as I only fill my 11-gallon tank every 6-8 weeks, it doesn't matter.

Out tax alone is $0.70 per gallon. If we ever got to $1.60 gas that would mean almost 50% in taxes.

Just saw it fell to $1.67 here when I filled up yesterday. Alabama's gas tax is currently 24 cents. It goes up 2 cents next year and then another 2 then next to top out at 28 cents.
