USS Monitor: first of the monitors (video).

Post by totemgam »

My name is Maxim. You already know that I have the honor to introduce the Clad in Iron series naval games to your community. But now I want to show a short video about the first of the American monitors of the American Civil War.

Thanks! In my younger days I made a number of models of Civil War ironclads and loved the board game Ironclads.

A very interesting period in the history of the development of warships. Then victory depended on people and their courage inside the iron boxes.

It was interesting reading how the ironclads may have deflected the cannon balls but they would pop the rivets off the armor making them deadly projectiles.

I read an interesting book one time about a British monitor during WW2. Used for shore bombardment and such.

I thought in your younger days you were swiping those from the docks and taking them for joy rides?
