It’s not looking great for them, no. 3.5 back in the division with 6 to play, that’s a tall order on that front. And if the Raiders can win tonight, they are 3 back for a wild card. That’s tough sledding.

I appreciate the Dolphins coming back to earth this week, getting the Bills a little breathing room. Hopefully we don’t botch it against the Chargers.
Ultimately if you can't beat the Texans this year, and you need a come from behind win to barely beat the Jets, you don't deserve to make the playoffs anyway.

But it's not about me - I just worry about all the football fans across the nation who will no doubt be devastated to not see the Patriots in the playoffs this year.

I assume that they'll still have their customary invitation to the AFC Championship game, at least.

I have to admit Philip Rivers came from behind to send the Packers packing in OT. Hall of fame induction is a lock. A LOCK!

Speaking of wondrous, everybody was picking the Bucs over the Rams, but the Rams cap it off by intercepting Brady. Can't wait for Arians' criticism. #NoBye4Brady.

Los Angeles Times called Brady S.L.O.A.T (sore loser of all time) because he did not interact at all with Geoff, who waited for him.

Brady was pissed because he knew he would have to take guff from Arians, who did not disappoint, citing lack of continuity.

We shall see. They play the Seahawks in Seattle later this season and that's probably going to be for the division.

ESPN
In the on-field scenario many in the league feared the most with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Denver Broncos plan to play the New Orleans Saints on Sunday with no available quarterbacks for the game.

The Broncos' three eligible quarterbacks -- Drew Lock, Brett Rypien and Blake Bortles -- were each deemed to be high-risk COVID-19 close contacts and none of the three can be in uniform for Sunday's game, the team announced on Saturday night.

Denver's statement didn't say who the players came in contact with but sources told ESPN it was quarterback Jeff Driskel. Driskel tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday and was moved to the team's reserve/COVID-19 list later that day.

The Broncos will not be forfeiting Sunday's game, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
...
Broncos coach Vic Fangio has previously said running back Royce Freeman is the team's emergency quarterback.

The Broncos also have wide receiver Kendall Hinton on their practice squad. He was a quarterback during his first three seasons at Wake Forest.

So I'm looking at the stats for the Raiders/Falcons game. Matt Ryan had 186 yards passing and a 75.4 rating...and the Falcons scored 43 points. Raiders gonna Raider I guess.

Mitchell Trubisky made his much anticipated return to the starting role against the Packers last night. While he did throw two interceptions and fumbled once, he led the team in a stirring fourth quarter comeback that narrowed the final score to 41-25.

He played better than Derek Carr of the Raiders, so there is that.

Lions did a housecleaning.
I saw this on the news last night. And so, for the first time in nearly 3 years I am interested, though I think the decision is a draft too late. Assuming the Lions bottom out the season, they'll still be middle of the pack this year, while having all of the Ex-Pat payroll on their books.

I still think getting rid of Caldwell was the right direction at the time but Quinn showed immediately he had no plan to raise the ceiling Caldwell had hit. Tearing Caldwell's team apart rather than building on it from the get go was the worst Lion's move since the Millen era. Schwartz was a good move to build a fire the Lions were lacking. Caldwell was a good move to tame that fire. And after nearly 10 years of slowly building a better culture, it took a matter of months to hit SOL reset button and it was so apparent from the outset.

Is there any discussion of adopting another name in Washington? Even setting aside the acronym, Washington Football Team makes me laugh every time that I see it.

The writing has, for a long time, been on the wall regarding Washington's team name being changed. The fact the owner didn't already have the new name ready to go tells me this current Football Team name is a deliberate gesture of spite. The owner is just dragging it out to show displeasure at being forced to change it. I think the name will stay as it is for as long as the league allows.

I guess my question is whether the NFL will ultimately force it or not. Seems like there's a nonzero chance that they wind up sticking with WFT out of some mix of owner obstinacy and inertia, but is that like a 10% chance? 30% chance?
