ESPN
Bell, apparently unhappy with his role in coach Adam Gase's offense, has $6 million remaining on his 2020 salary -- fully guaranteed.
...
Bell has disappointed since signing a four-year, $52.5 million contract last year, as he has averaged only 3.3 yards per carry with the Jets -- 51st out of 53 qualifying runners in the NFL during that span.

After Sunday's 30-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, Bell refused to speak with the media but "liked" several tweets that suggested he should be traded because Gase has misused him. On Monday, Gase made it clear he didn't appreciate Bell's method of communication.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

I know, but I'm thinking specifically of major free agents like L'Veon Bell, who presumably also had significant money offers from other teams. Even assuming that the Jets number was the highest, wouldn't it be better to take like 90% of the money with a competent team that will put you in a position to succeed?

Considering Bell held out a year for a team that could have potentially been competing for a championship, I'm thinking he's mainly motivated by getting as much as he can rather than winning.

As I recall, no one even came close to the Jets offer. This article from the time only names San Fran made a competitive offer (with no details) while noting other teams were interested.

Spoiler:
Tua Tagovailoa went back to the field and he’s sitting around the 15-yard-line in full uniform. It looks like he’s soaking this moment in.

On November 16, 2019, Tua suffered a potentially career-ending injury. On October 18, 2020, he threw his first NFL passes.

Case in point: Philip Rivers is #6 and he has never won anything. Mostly it's a measure of longevity.

When did we all decide Rivers was a terrible QB? I'm not going to say I've watched a ton of Chargers film, but I thought he was a pretty solid and sometimes exceptional QB for many years. I know he's way past his prime now, but that doesn't erased his prior level.

Never winning anything isn't the same as terrible. The Chargers went to the playoffs several times, but could never get past the Patriots with Rivers. My criticism of Rivers is that he could almost never make that winning drive in the fourth quarter like the great quarterbacks do.

He’s not terrible. I was just pointing out that it takes more than yards to get to and win a SB. One of the worst Raider seasons, Carson Palmer had more yards than any QB in the AFC. Meaningless.

Expected Points Added is more accurate than yards.

They weren’t showing the game in my market but I was following the score ticker at the bottom of the screen with great interest. Also thought they were going to botch it as the Washington Football Team started their comeback.

I might have enjoyed the first half of that Battle of the Bays more than I enjoyed the Bears game (which was their typical poorly played game that they somehow managed to win).

Took him 230 games to reach this not-so-lofty plateau. Meanwhile the mighty Matts: Stafford has 35 after 154 games, and Ryan has 38 after 195 games. Certainly not terrible, but mostly longevity. The Craig Biggio of the NFL.

Even those these aren't specific to an individual, these are specific to passing

https://thecommutesports.com/2020/05/19 ... ded-intro/

I really like it as a stat because it takes into account how much yardage is needed to make a first down, and the situation the team find itself in.

Edit: Found it, ESPN uses it
