Living with Cancer

Post by persself »

I was diagnosed in June 2020 with Myelofibrosis, which is a bone marrow cancer.
This is not your typical cancer, with "stages". Instead, I am medium "risk". Good luck with a life expectancy diagnosis. I progressed from a too high
platelet cancer: essential thrombocytosis, which I lived with for 15 years and no adverse side effects.

There are promising drugs in the pipeline.

This group has felt like home for years; I am so grateful to all of you who participate on the various boards....even if I'm an ugly Libertarian! :tjg:

I hate to see the word "cancer" any time, but it sounds like you know the situation and the issues.

Wishing you the best luck and sending good thoughts!

Cancer. Ya. Dont know what to say. Have no info on your type or anything. Im sorry. I am Googling though. Cancer does run in my family on my moms side. So Ive experienced it many times. But its always different. From a quick Google scan it seems your body hates anything to do with blood.

Well type away and dont be shy. I do hope for a cure or at the least a great treatment soon.

EDIT: Daaang your avatar is the old Redskins one from the late 60s when I was born. Used to love them in the early 80s....especially when they kicked Miami's arse. Riggins and the Hogs woooo.

Fuck cancer! I hate seeing these titles. Be as well as you can. I know nothing about bone marrow cancer but it doesn't sound like fun.

My mom had breast cancer when I was young and had to have a radical mastectomy. I can sympathize with you. I've had skin cancer removed a couple of times but that's no real big deal.

Yes it's the Redskins, indeed. Not the FL state dudes. I have been a Washington fan all my life. Loyal to a fault, painful as it is at times. Still call them Redskins out of habit. Don't know if I want or care to change.

I've always been happy to see persself post...until now. We have better threads you can join.

May you be one of those cancer patients who lives long enough to die of something else in the distant future.

Thank you. And can you believe I have Sniper Elite 3, but haven't actually played yet? GAH! What the...

I blame it on new laptop and trying to download all the new, shine games I can afford. Gtx 2060 was the most l could do.
No doubt it will afford me plenty of shots below the belt in SE 3.

Trying to be lady like, after all. Look out! Image

Ooops, SE 4 not 3. Must be the drugs. Yeah, that's it. I go with that.

I too hate to see these threads pop up.

Best of luck, don't know anything about your cancer but treatments have come a long way since the old days. May you live a long happy life...long enough to see the Redskins (or Wash FBT) win another Super Bowl one day. As a Cowboys fan, I miss the old days of the Redskins and Cowboys battling it out for the Div championship instead of the mediocrity we are dealing with these days, thanks to our crappy owners.
The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

Thank you, and well said summing up our respective football teams woes.

Best of luck and I hope you beat this.

I just had a co-worker who was having back pains have lung cancer show up on his MRI. He has quit work and disappeared. He has really crappy insurance.

I hope you are in a better place than him right now.
