NFL 2021 Season

Post by RunningMn9 »

I was bewildered that BB would attempt the FG there. In that situation it had very little chance of success.

As for Nick Wright, a couple of weeks ago he went on about how Washington was going to beat the Bills because Josh Allen is hot trash, and then doubled down by attacking a co-host for suggesting that the Chargers might upset the Chiefs.

Patriots traded Stephon Gilmore to the Panthers for a 2023 6th round pick. Impressive haul.

That is absurd. I get that Gilmore is coming off an injury, but it’s a muscle injury. He didn’t have to have his joints reconstructed, did he?

A 6th round pick, two years from now? I feel like *I’m* worth that.

You've always sold yourself short. :)

My brother and I were thinking that we could have put together a competitive offer and had him come to our office and defend our doors to keep people from bothering us. A dozen donuts and a gallon of Dunkin' coffee would probably have done the trick.

Maybe they're desperate because they can't pick of the Lions litter any more?

Signed. Someone who used to watch Lions games until they became overrun by Pat saboteurs and reset the team back to the Matt Millen years.

Thursday Night Football (Rams at Seahawks) is on Amazon Prime in high def. I don't have NFL network so this was a welcome find.

Thanks for the heads up. I don’t have NFL Network, so I have tended to ignore Thursday night games.

Yes, but strangely enough my cable is out. I was running my TV off my iphone hotspot and was able to get Prime.

Not all (most?) of the Thursday night games are on Fox. I think Fox probably has some limited number or Thursday night games it can show and so generally chooses the best ones. Too bad those are few and far between.

Isgrimnur showed which above. Weeks 5-15. Fox didn't get to choose, but the NFL is aware who is broadcasting when they set the schedule.

Heard the last few seconds of the Lions Viks game on the drive today. That 10 minutes in the car would suggest there is an exception to that statement.

This just in:

Justin Herbert is the effing Man! He overcame a botched extra point with another touchdown to cap off a 26 point 4th quarter. Broncos and Raiders get exposed. Chargers now alone in first place.

So it's possible the Bears don't suck as much as was feared after the Browns debacle. They now have a winning record, with 2 of their wins against other winning teams. The running game lost it's star RB and didn't miss a beat, they played really well today. And Mack really came to play today! The defense was really good.

I won't get excited until the beat The Packers next week.

Before the other emails came out there were quite a few sports commentators on Sunday who were quite forgiving of Gruden. Will be interesting if they change their tune next Sunday.

What did the NFL do (I'm just catching up on this story)? From the report I read, it only became aware of the emails during the WFT investigation which is still ongoing, right?

A sports commentator on either NFL Network or ESPN (or both) said that the Raiders were in possession of all the emails, not just the initial one that started this, since Friday and the NFL knew and was furious that the Raiders weren't acting on them. Then the NYT article about all the other emails came out and the optics make it look like the Raiders hand was forced rather than them getting on the right side of the issue.

Another angle is that he was corresponding with a group of people high up in the NFL food chain. The NY Times article indicates that this wasn't one email. It was years of emails to several groups of people. No one spoke up and many participated. Still this is a positive sign. The NFL seems to realize they have a major problem with some of these teams and are working on it.

I think it's clear the NFL wanted him out and so decided that leaking this emails was the best way to force the Raiders' hand. But it's unclear whether the NFL was madder about the racist/sexist part of the emails or the parts where he disparaged Roger Goodell...

First, F Jon Gruden.

But where the NFL looks really bad here is that these emails are all coming from an investigation into the toxic workplace culture of the Washington Football Team. Yet there isn’t a single leak related to Dan Snyder. The NFL is clearly leaking these.

Why are they leaking damaging info on Gruden, but not Snyder? Presumably because Goodell works for Snyder, not Gruden.
