[Film] Free Guy

Post by Isgrimnur »

Wife and I just got back from it this evening. She says it's one of the best films she's seen in a long time. I quite enjoyed it as well. Ryan Reynolds is always fun to watch.

We have tickets to see it Tuesday so I'll avoid this thread until then but I'm hoping for a loud, dumb, funny summer flick. We'll see how it goes.

Im glad to hear its a hit. I was worried it might flop somehow. I love Ryan and was hoping it would rock. I wont be going to theaters though.

kid appropriate? 11 year old who loves video games? Mainly trying to stay away from sexual innuendo.

I would say yes. Just some romantic kissing.

Fair amount of swearing. Common Sense Media says there is sexual innuendo, but I only remember one joke. There is a blonde bombshell, though, and at one point a character plays with another characters pecs.

I liked it. The Disney integrations were very fun as were the cameos.

They probably consider "teabagging" a character in-game sexual innuendo

Saw this last night and my wife and I really enjoyed it.

I described it to my kid as "the movie 'Ready Player One' except good".

That final fight scene was worth the price of the ticket all by itself.

I would watch this if it were streaming for free. I might even pay $5 to see it at home, although that's a high bar to clear. The pandemic has ruined movies for me.

The preview makes it look like West World the comedy. I can dig that.

I'm not sure if you subscribe to Disney+, but it's supposed to be coming to that service for free after a 45 day run in theaters.

You should not watch the above until you've seen the film.

I marked it as spoilers. I haven't seen the movie so wouldn't know.

Eh. I saw that character introduced in a trailer for Free Guy that was attached to the IMAX version of The Suicide Squad that I watched the week before Free Guy came out.

We just watched this tonight and loved it. Really well done. Except having Ninja in it. :ninja:

We just watched it, and the whole family enjoyed it. Wife, gamer son, and myself, gamer geezer. It is somewhat like Ready Player One, but more if Ready Player One and Westworld had a comedy baby. Wife actually thinks she might be able to watch other Ryan Reynolds movies now, although I'll keep her away from Green Lantern.

I really dont get all the hate for Green Lantern.
Is it a great movie? No. Is it watchable? Absolutely.
