I read that Russian media is crowing that Americans are on the brink of civil war and our government is collapsing. I hereby resolve to take a deep breath before getting all worked up and amplifying the story, no matter how true it looks. Fear is the mind-killer.

Someday we'll look back on all this and laugh....

I see where Trump is stopping funding the Armed Services Stars and Stripes newspaper.
When I was overseas that is what I read to find out what was going on in the rest of the world. I always enjoyed it. Back when I was in the army and Trump wasn't.

Come the next financial shock and paralysis I believe we are looking at balkanization. I wonder if this is what the elites want. Not one big country to boss around but four or five other smaller nations to play off one another. Of course Americans wont blame the elites. We've been conditioned to hate one another for years.

A large part of me wants to be somewhere else when this happens. Because presidents operate on half decades and economies operate on decades chances are a (D) will be in office when this happens.

A group of Bernie Sanders supporters posted a video of themselves screaming at Illinois Democratic congressional candidate Betsy Dirksen Londrigan and trapping her in her car, yelling “Medicare for All” slogans and demanding that she debate democratic socialist candidate Stephanie Smith.

On Tuesday, local CBS Capital Bureau Chief Mark Maxwell posted a video of a group of Democratic Socialists surrounding Londrigan’s car screaming “Block her in!”, demanding Londrigan debate Smith, and being told to stop shoving.
And she's apparently already debated Smith in the past and hasn't turned down any invitations to debate.

Smith has no chance to beat Davis so all they'd be doing is just keeping a House seat red. Londrigan has a shot.

This whole amateur outsider thing is going way too far.

Just putting this out here as an example of how cheaply politicians can be bought when they're spending other people's money.

Health care provider Kaiser Permanente also disclosed that it had paid [then mayor] Pugh's Healthy Holly LLC about $114,000 between 2015 and 2018 for about 20,000 copies of her books. Pugh oversaw Baltimore's spending board in 2017, when the city awarded a $48 million contract to the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan for the Mid-Atlantic States Inc.
That's like $0.002 on the dollar.

(I know it's Fox but the numbers are facts)

Garth Brooks wears a Barry Sanders jersey at his concert in Detroit.

MAGA's think it's a Bernie Sanders jersey.

While I would never see anything but a Barry Sanders jersey, I'll admit that "Sanders 20" could cause confusion among non-Lions fans or anyone under 35 or so. I actually never made that connection. Weird.

And several of those tweets were from Sanders supporters too. People love to jump to all kinds of conclusions and express their internet glee/rage.

If Bloomberg took less than half of his net worth and paid $10,000 per vote, he'd be able to buy 2.5M votes. If he paid $1,000, because let's face it, we're cheap, he could buy 25M votes. That's roughly 20% of the total voter turnout for 2016.

Bot. Person. Following celebs on social media isn't my thing. Seeing someone wear a Sports Jersey and refer to a city, I would assume the jersey is from someone in the city. Jumping to politics by means of chastising the other for doing so, entertains me. It's sort of in the same way as "Stop oppressing me by stopping me from oppressing you" does. Bot doesn't make me angry. It makes me laugh.

News said Trump was thinking of signing a new travel order . My first thought was he should sign an order banning him from breathing oxygen. My second thought was he is so damn stupid he must not be getting much to start what.

Ya thats how I think these days.

Also saw Trump outside the WH say the market drops are probably due to no confidence in the Democratic candidates. LOL!

I think instead of President and Vice President it should just be Dumb & Dumber from now on.

I had CNBC on all day. There was a parade of people saying it was the coronavirus. However, more than a few "experts" went on to say that the market was actually pricing in Sanders killing business because the economic slow down from the coronavirus gives him the win. That's a bit of a stretch.

NBC News
Chris Matthews, one of the longest-tenured voices at MSNBC, announced his retirement during Monday’s night’s airing of his talk show, “Hardball.”

Matthews, 74, said he and MSNBC had mutually agreed to part ways. The decision followed a series of events that resulted in criticism of the host’s statements about Bernie Sanders, African-American lawmakers, and comments he had made to female journalists and coworkers.

“I’m retiring,” Matthews said. “This is the last ‘Hardball’ on MSNBC.”

Matthews was due to retire in the near future with the events of the past week playing a factor in the timing of the move, an MSNBC spokesperson said.

After MSNBC aired a commercial following the announcement, Matthews did not return to the program. Steve Kornacki, a political reporter for the network, took over the rest of the hour, and seemed shocked by the news. “That was a lot to take in,” he said, saying it had been an honor to work with Matthews, and then beginning a discussion about the coronavirus response.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Nah. Laura Bassett struck the final blow as he was apparently a problem for a long time. The interesting thing is that he clearly wasn't supposed to do that. We'll get the story eventually but they were totally unprepared for him to quit and cut to a very shocked Steve Kornacki who had to pick up the show.

Matthews, 74
and that pic. In my mind, Mathews is in his mid 50s, looking not much older than I do.

Also I don't really watch him, which would synch with how different he looks in my mind. I have no idea that he demeans women for or related to their sex organs on air. If he does, then

Not exactly politics, but I was just reading up on the "assault weapons ban", "destructive devices", and the California extra provisions... and how gun manufacturers are getting around it.

Apparently, you can still have a high-capacity detachable magazine... If you are willing to modify your gun so it has NO pistol grip (more of a hunting rifle grip) and a fixed stock. (There's a few other restrictions like no forward pistol grip, no flash hider, and stuff like that).

And shotgun... Apparently, if it has NO STOCK that goes on the shoulder, it's NOT considered a shotgun and kinda goes into a limbo zone that's neither fish nor fowl and thus, less regulated.

Guess that why you should not let non-gun-people write laws about guns. Apparently, ATF had been using the wrong definition of a "gun" for a long time... The "lower receiver" was long considered by ATF to be the essence of the gun. Merely owning a lower receiver can get you charged for "gun possession", even if it's unassembled, and rise of "gun kits" are creating what media has dubbed "ghost guns" because they are impossible to track as they have no serial numbers (as lower receiver is the only part that is REQUIRED to have a serial number). But even those can be purchased "80% finished" so you can finish it at home with some decent tools. ATF rules says you're supposed to contact them for a serial number and for you to register as a gunmaker, but who the **** does that?

Obviously this is midnight reading and I may have gotten many details wrong.

That's only if you sell it. If you keep it you don't need to serialize and/or can just make up your own serial number.

Apparently, support for Trump is like that temporal anomaly in the finale of TNG that ran backwards in time - it killed a career that was already dead for a decade or two.

Trump is the last refuge for a lot of people. He'll reward sycophancy if it makes it to Fox News. Eddie Gallagher, Blago...cant blame a failed actor for taking a last desperate shot that will probably cost him his soul.

"The country is doing fantastic," he said. "I think he’ll be elected by 100 million votes."
He does know Trump lost the popular vote last time? I freely admit that the last six years have shown me I know nothing about the American voter but he really thinks

DJT 62,984,828 HRC 65,853,514

where HRC was historically contentious as the democratic nominee will turn into a voter turn out to give Trump a 100,000,000 vote advantage over his opposition. He's going to pick up 38,000,000 votes before his opposition gets even one?
