What does that even mean? If you love America, a nation who proud heritage is the rule of law, then don't let your kids become educated about American law at the best laws schools in in the US? But what do you expect from a Tea Party Republican with a law degree? This propaganda is a symptom of why I have come to distrust anyone who uses "patriot" as a selling point. And things that used to put a lump in my throat now are met with cynicism.

I get pretty fired up about Nazis and white-supremacists, but I'm not sure that photo isn't more about bad taste and poor judgment than it is about a hate crime. It seems at least plausible that they were making a very bad joke about pledging their allegiance to their training officer ("Byrd"), and they weren't really trying to advocate for or show support for Nazis or white supremacy.

Am I being too soft here? The governor seems to be jumping on them with both feet calling for all of them to be fired, so maybe additional facts and context are not at all helpful to them. I guess we'll see how it plays out.

These people are supposed to go out and have the respect of the community. People are supposed to trust their judgement and feel safe that these people will wield police powers. Maybe it isn't criminal but every one of them definitely needs to go.

He is likely looking at it through the lens above.

If WV does nothing about this and you (theoretical black and/or Jewish you) gets pulled over in WV how secure and safe are you going to feel?

I didn't even see a black person without looking at it a long time - it appeared to be all white. If there are any Jews involved...well call me very skeptical of that idea. And I think that is what matters. It looks like an all white crowd saluting.

As to the fists raised. I don't think that changes much. They are in the photo. They can get up and walk away. I know that is tough in a group setting but this is about judgement and integrity.

This. I don't want someone who is that easily pressured into following the crowd being in charge of enforcing the law. What happens when their new partner decides to use excessive force or plant evidence to cover up a bad collar? They have already shown themselves untrustworthy of showing the integrity needed to stand up for the people. It would be a lot easier to just not raise your arm than to stand against your fellow officer when they break the law. If you can not do the first I don't trust you to do the second.
