I saw a wider view of this scene on another site. Sitting next to him is his mistress daughter Ivanka. Why she keeps showing up in an official capacity is beyond me. Shouldn't she be trying to score more Chinese trademarks off her last name?

She's not lowering herself to Trump standards. She's lowering herself to typical politician trying to be snarky/funny standards. Those are still miles above Trump standards.

It's possible that, as a person, she found it funny, much like folks here, and wanted to retweet it. Not everything has to have a "grand scheme" behind it. Sheesh.

Edit: I guess what annoys me is the assumption that she is still "a politician". I'd gotten the impression that she finally "retired". So it feels like we should let her be just a person now.

I don't know that it's really realistic for a politician at her level to truly retire from politics, at least less than four years from her last run at the presidency. She knows that she still has a lot of public notoriety and influence.

Note that I don't have any issues with her retweeting this, and I enjoy snarky/funny Hillary more than I enjoyed actively running for office Hillary. I just waded into the discussion to call out the laughable comparison of her behavior to Trump's.

Hillary has been trolling Trump on Twitter ever since he was elected. So this wasn't out of the ordinary for her.

I do prefer active politicians/candidates to stay away from such hijinks though. The best solution for a bully like Trump is to not give him the reaction he so desperately craves.

Well, I wouldn't argue with that. I don't think her behavior should be compared at all to Trump's. At least, no more than I'd compare your behavior, my behavior, or the behavior of anyone else on this forum to Trump. And I get that she still has some weight in political circles. Much like former Presidents that get paid for giving speeches. But I don't think that we should be ascribing political motivations to everything she does. Personally, I just think it is far more likely that she is just being a person.

Couple of thoughts...

I agree about active politicians. Which is why I have no problem with Hillary doing it. I don't think of her as being active any longer.
And I generally agree with not responding to Trump. However, on the other hand, it's pretty clear that he has issues with Hillary (and seems completely unwilling to let her go). So I am all for her trolling him to get reactions. Maybe she can trigger even more unhinged behavior.

He seems to have a list of people that "get to him", and I'm all for them pushing him. Maybe one of them will trigger the health meltdown that some of us are hoping for.

I have had the opportunity to shake the hand of two different presidents in my life, H.W. and Obama. Both were just occasions of 'right time right place' weird things that sometimes happen to us in life(I'm not even sure I've ever been in the same room with another politician to just kind of highlight the oddity). I never even had a thought of refusing to shake their hand; but since trump was elected I have imagined standing in a line and refusing to shake his.

He looks genuinely confused as to what happened. That's both awesome and frightening - that he could possibly think he isn't a such a giant, throbbing PoS enough so that even at a funeral, someone would intentionally avoid interacting with him.
