My best guess would be that he was trying to refer to the outcome of the uprising, went off script and burped up a little word salad. OTOH, maybe this is just the sort of thing to expect when Bannon & Co are writing the speeches.

I guess.... I mean maybe there is a small percentage of people that think they're getting secret affirmation, but I suspect the large, large majority of conservatives see people claiming coded white supremacy and wonder WTF those crazy liberals are on about *this* time.

The rest of us (liberals and independents) just remain astounded that a small subset of humanity seems to think Trump is anything better than your garden variety total asshole.

Rep. Schiff statement on Trump-Putin meeting:
I didn't know that part about "cyber interference," and it sent me looking.

Yep, it seems Trump and Putin agreed to work together to combat the problem of election interference by 400-pound hackers.

Trump is a traitorous traitor who should be thrown in prison and TRAITOR tattooed across his traitor [redacted] forehead.

Basically the President of the United States said it was an "honor" to meet with the man directly responsible, according to Trump's own intelligence officials, of interfering with the election. Then shakes hands and agrees to "move on."

You ARE the [redacted] puppet you traitorous orange Cheeto son of a [redacted] traitor [redacted].

Trump had better hope there were no tapes. I mean, what are the chances that a KGB Agent would miss the chance to get leverage over the #fakepresident in a secret meeting?

OMG, they're really focusing on the agreement to form a US-Russia "Cyber Unit" like it's a big win.

Russian spies and hackers intrude in our election, creating a crisis of democracy that Trump still denies took place, and Trump's solution is to partner with the Russians on preventing interference in future elections.

That's actually what's happening.

Of course there probably WILL be a joint "Cyber Unit," because the Russians won't pass up an opportunity to dig deeper into what we can do and what we know. They might even throw up some 400-pound independent Russian hackers for show-trial purposes.

And course this is happening while Russia is currently weaponizing power-and-utility hacking against Ukraine.

And literally the same day Trump and Putin were agreeing to cooperate on Cyber Security, news was breaking that Russia is experimenting with power-and-utility hacking here in the U.S.
Since May, hackers have been penetrating the computer networks of companies that operate nuclear power stations and other energy facilities, as well as manufacturing plants in the United States and other countries.

Among the companies targeted was the Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Corporation, which runs a nuclear power plant near Burlington, Kan., according to security consultants and an urgent joint report issued by the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation last week.

The joint report was obtained by The New York Times and confirmed by security specialists who have been responding to the attacks. It carried an urgent amber warning, the second-highest rating for the sensitivity of the threat.
Even if the election hacking had never occurred, how was this not Trump's first and most urgent concern at the meeting with Putin? How in hell did he come out celebrating a plan to "partner" with Russia on Cyber Security?

Why are nuclear plants on an outside network and not disconnected from the world?

Because now they can be assured of hacked elections? With Russia both doing the hacking and monitoring for hacking, they no longer have to worry about losing their seats.

The mental gymnastics required to continually and loudly label any US investigation into Russia as "fake news", then simply turn around take Putin at his word ("Russia? We didn't do anything.") is actually quite remarkable.

It's less remarkable when there is no other widely accepted authority or reputable sources of information. Trump NEEDS to tear down news and television to tell this inconsistent and irrational vision of reality.

Russia knows the Trump administration is impotent against him. This is not #MAGA..

Where's Rip? One of his criticisms of Obama was that he was too weak and that Trump would be strong. After this Putin meeting it should be obvious to you that you've been played. No punishment for Russian meddling? A proposed joint cybersecurity group with the same nation that hacked us?! WTF?! So sad. Have you opened your eyes yet? Or are you too far down the rabbit hole to climb out?

Putin, savvy ex-KGB agent, invokes the "Shaggy Gambit"

To be a true player you have to know how to play
If she say a night, convince her say a day
Never admit to a word when she say
And if she claim, ah, you tell her, "Baby, no way."

But she caught me on the counter (It wasn't me)
Saw me kissin' on the sofa (It wasn't me)
I even had her in the shower (It wasn't me)
She even caught me on camera (It wasn't me)

Nonsense Comrade. I'm sure you know the famous quotation "The price of liberty is eternal vigilance if the other party is in power." Comrade Rip is only following that quote.

The same people who see Democratic sex rings in pizza parlors can't see collusion with Russian spies or corruption when the Trump family commits it openly.

It's absurd.

Trump tried a "But...but...but...CLINTON" defense today.
If Chelsea Clinton were asked to hold the seat for her mother,as her mother gave our country away, the Fake News would say CHELSEA FOR PRES!
Chelsea Clinton won.
Good morning Mr. President. It would never have occurred to my mother or my father to ask me. Were you giving our country away? Hoping not.

The Trump foreign policy thread

Post by Zarathud »

Trump trusts his unqualified children more than anyone else in his team of the "best people" to keep his seat warm. But then he's willing to throw Trump Jr. under the bus -- what a terrible family dynamic.

And a tragedy for the country.
