Full-time workers age 25 and older without a high school diploma had median weekly earnings of $494 in the first quarter of 2016. That compares with a median of $679 for high school graduates who never attended college and $782 for workers with some college or an associate degree. Median weekly earnings were $1,155 for workers with a bachelor's degree and $1,435 for workers with an advanced degree—a master’s, professional, or doctoral degree.
That puts 90th percentile for Men with a HS diploma, no college at $80,288/year.
Researching the table for Q1 2016 employment data puts the civilian employed labor force for HS grad, no college, at 33,599,000, so that would be something on the order of 3.36M at or above the 90th percentile of $80k/year.

It doesn't make a lick of sense.

Worse, how can low education people make more than the average american, assuming high education people are included in these numbers? Isgrim's reports on employment SHOW that low education is a sure way to less employment.

Honestly Lawbeef, something doesn't add up, but I'm not sure what it is.

How do you make six figures in America without a college education? Obviously I can think of examples, but we're talking whole swathes of people, not just the occasional outlier.

That poll implies that there are $50k (assuming 2 person households) jobs just waiting around for uneducated people to apply to. How is that possible? What fields are they in? If education is not a barrier to a good paying job, WTF is the problem that the GOP base have been complaining about? I don't get it.
I don't have a college degree and have earned over $300K one year. Lack of a college degree != uneducated. I have enough technical certification to line an entire wall with. I know dozenss of people who make $100K or more by themselves and few of them have degrees.

You were trained by the military.

In any case, the mistake was mine, not the data. Educated means educated. Whether that's college or a series of IT certs or whatever. The people we're talking about are uneducated, presumably, as that's what the poll suggested.

There are uneducated people who make millions of dollars. We're not talking about them. We're talking about enough people to be called a statistic.

And it's almost never suspect in my mind, because I assume legitimate methodology. If the methodology is broken, then the data is useless, but I would expect a broken poll to only be reported by partisan hacks.

Just FYI, note the date of the poll (March 2015). Not sure how (if?) awareness (from either side) would have changed as we got into the Trump era.

Asking random people about the statistical breakdown of other groups is a pretty shit way to measure intelligence. Where's the control where they were asked to measure "their own" groups.

It all depends on your compiler/interpreter. I have yet to see one that would accept a space between the 'not' and 'equals' operators.

My eyes are fine. Next you're gonna be telling me there's only 1 space after a period. Plus you're just lucky google is smart enough to figure out that the space Meal put in between the 44 and ! was a typo but the one it put in after ! is not.

A little consistency would be nice, google.

A trade war? You ain't seen nothin' yet:
President Trump has repeatedly told top White House officials he wants to withdraw the United States from the World Trade Organization, a move that would throw global trade into wild disarray, people involved in the talks tell Axios.

What we're hearing: “He’s [threatened to withdraw] 100 times. It would totally [screw] us as a country,” said a source who’s discussed the subject with Trump. The source added that Trump has frequently told advisers, "We always get fucked by them [the WTO]. I don’t know why we’re in it. The WTO is designed by the rest of the world to screw the United States."

Idiot. The WTO was designed by the US to make other countries dependent on America and preserve our central role in the world economy.

If anything makes the Republican Party turn on Trump, it will be the economic chaos he causes.

What would be the immediate consequences of withdrawing from the WTO? I assume that we'd lose a lot of reciprocal tariff reductions?

I imagine the immediate consequence would be breaking many trade treaties which rely on the WTO as the mediation function. The shock of that as every supply chain would be affected could cause a market panic. This would be beyond drastic. Luckily it seems Congress would have to agree and I can't imagine they'd want to go down in history as sparking this big a disaster.

I could talk about consequences forever on this topic, but here's a quick example of something mundane that could have very big ripple effects wrt trade:

99% of countries rely on certain norms and guidelines set out by the WTO (and the UN Council on Trade), which is the basis of much of our (globally) data regarding transactions, trade information, etc. It greases the wheels of international commerce. It provides the infrastructure for common language regarding all things trade.

If a country does not follow the guidelines, especially a major trading country, it will create havoc for analysts, Wall St., exporters, government agencies trying to negotiate with other countries regarding trade, and a million other things.

It's almost like us deciding "You know what, FUCK the English language. We're going to create an AMERICAN language, still based on the alphabet, but completely new. No one else in the world speaks AMERICAN. It's not related to any form of English at all. Every word is BOINGA.

My company manufactures BOINGAS. We have BOINGA BOINGAS available for export to the following countries: BOINGA BOINGA and North BOINGA. Who wants to buy some BOINGA?
