ICE abuses thread

Post by malchior »

I've been seeing more and more of stories like this so think it is time to start a thread about ICE. They seem to be increasingly abusing their powers in the era of the Trump administration. Trump has definitely let them off the chain and they are flexing their muscle legitimately or not. In the linked case, it looks like Senator Gillibrand is calling for an investigation because it is pretty egregious. The man detained was documented and they were trespassing on the farm they "raided".

Edit: Interesting aside - there is a video where the farmer talks at length about what he saw including the ICE agents throwing his phone, detaining him for "assaulting a Federal officer" before releasing him. He also rebuts the usual argument that he is just looking for cheap labor. He showed the paperwork he had for the worker and claims that the migrant labor was his most expensive worker out of 7 employees. He talked about the difficulty he was having finding labor in general and deporting everyone wasn't going to leave him and other farmers a pool of labor.
