Cory Booker for Prez

Cory Booker announces he is running for president

Let's see if we can get 20 Dems running in 2020.

I say we start a separate thread for each one. :horse:

We could do it all brackets-style like the series Tareeq and I ran back on the day for the great animal fight shootout.

Not at all surprised he's running, though I'm kind of curious to see how he plays outside of NJ - especially considering his mixed reviews here in our own state, particularly from his former constituents in Newark.

In these preliminary stages, why not? I think the field will narrow considerably before any votes are cast. There just isn't enough funding and ground support available to support 10 progressives and 10 centrists (for example) -- maybe two or three of each could make a realistic go of it. The whole point of announcing this early is to see who can field an organization and vacuum up the dollars (not to mention dominate headlines...if Trump taught us anything, it's the value of free media attention). Why not test the waters to see if you're one of the few that can do that?

I like his style, but his policies are out of step: charter schools, courting Big Pharma, etc.

Seems like the kind of candidate who drops out respectfully and thereby earns gravitas in his Senate role.

The dem candidate needs to be able to bring out the masses. I think cory booker can, similar to how obama did. He would crush trump or any other republican I think.

It's 2019. America just isn't ready for a black president.

I hope that the moderate conciliatory types (of which I understand Booker to be one) will wash out early. We are embroiled in a class war (that we've arguably already lost), a culture war, and a political civil war with a radical extremist party. This is not a swords-into-plowshares moment. The Dems need a fighter.
