Who's the best of this bunch?

Gabbard-mania!

But seriously, I went with Warren. She's increasingly my favorite among the field. Second place among this group would be Booker at the moment.

Warren by a landslide.

Warren ought to crush this group, as she is indeed doing so far. I suspect this won't be a very revealing poll; blame the DNC.

This group is pretty unfair.

I went with Bill de Blasio since it sounds like a character on City of Heroes.

I'm all in for Warren, on this poll and in the primary.

Just a reminder that this airs tonight at 9 pm ET. With 60-second answers and 30-second followups -- and consisting of Warren and the B team -- I'm not expecting much in the way of "debate." Which is a shame, because Warren's a notoriously good debater. But I'll watch it anyway.

I need a nameplate for a couple of candidates since I don’t know who some of them are.

Go Warren!

I've been really happy with Warren so far - she's actually answering the questions. Beto seems to be regurgitating stump speeches. I've been mildly impressed with DeBlasio and Booker.

I haven't been watching. Given his history, I assume this is false:

But just in case it isn't, can one of you watching fact check it?

I imagine that the average joe sixpack would probably find it boring. It seems reasonably interesting to me, someone with interest in politics. There have been some pretty good exchanges so far. Booker has been on a teat for the last half hour.

I only watched a half hour or so, but they seem to focus on Warren and Booker and everyone else gets ignored. When they do get a question tossed their way, they won't stop talking.

I didn't get that feeling. There were a few candidates that I think didn't get a lot of exposure, but in general it was pretty lively. DeBlasio got hit pretty often, Inslee especially got hit on climate change, Castro got asked questions on immigration and bipartisanship, Klobuchar got asked about Iran and dealing with McConnell. All in all I thought it was pretty even. Tim Ryan got a question, but I don't remember much about what he said. Gabbard talked about Iran and guns, I think. Everyone went over time, but it wasn't as egregious as some debates I've seen.

I'm going to guess you meant "tear." I would call Booker the winner in rising above the rest of the B team. Warren, who was obviously in the wrong debate, held her own; that was all she needed to do.

Klobuchar rubs me the wrong way; that didn't change. Gabbard seems like a serious and sincere person who is out of her league -- every answer came back to Iraq. The bug-eyed guy on the right side who kept interrupting annoyed the hell out of me. I didn't remember his name because I know I won't be seeing much more of him.

Trump was bashed at appropriate times and his failures were used accurately, but he wasn't the focus. Mostly, it was a wide-ranging exchange of policy differences. Of course that would bore Trump.

They did stream it live on nbcnews.com - it might either be there or on their Youtube page.

I'm good with whomever. Of course as I'm still registered as a Republican I can't vote in the primary anyway. I just hope a consensus favorite can emerge soon so the party can rally behind them and there isn't the mess they had in 2016. It's going to take the whole party pulling in the same direction to beat trump

Thinking about changing my registration to democrat so I can help pick the clown who goes up against El Supremo. Can I do that?

At least you can vote for Bill Weld in the primary?

It was a good night for Warren, Booker, Castro and Klobuchar.

It was a very bad night for Beto O'Rourke and John Delaney.

The rest are somewhere in the middle.

If you are still in Texas, we have open primaries. Regardless of whether you are registered with a party, you can vote for one or the other, but not both.

I'll review Debate Part 1 the way I review regular TV shows, with just kind of random thoughts.

It definitely seemed like early on they were favoring Warren, and she started off strong, but it felt to me like she faded into the background towards the end. That other lady (Tulsi?) I thought started out seeming more robot than human, but when she finally got some time towards the end I thought she had one nice moment. I don't remember the topic but I just remember really liking that moment for her. Probably not enough to propel her forward but it seemed very passionate and genuine. I also came away liking the Climate Change guy (I think he's the governor of Washington?) but since I don't even remember his name, I guess that doesn't help his cause too much. He seemed too much like a one note wonder, he would be better as Secretary of Climate Change. I also liked Amy, she seemed the most calm and collected and precise with her answers. Nothing too exciting but I was semi-impressed.

Reviewers gave Castro big reviews, but I can't help feeling like he came across really creepy in the early going. I feel bad saying this because it was just a physical thing, but he had some weird look on his face early on that just creeped me out. Maybe he was just annoyed with Beta's Spanish. Speaking of which, I don't think Beta did himself any favors with his Out of the Blue Spanish pandering, it just made me really uncomfortable and I felt embarrassed for him like he was super desperate to make a splash. (Someone please warn Pete not to do it tonight!) I don't mind a little showing off and pandering, but it just came out of nowhere. Booker did a little later and so did Castro but those didn't seem quite as egregious. BTW I thought Booker did a good job overall too. I was actually more impressed with DeBlasio than I thought I'd be after hearing only negative stuff about him. At least it sounds like he's done some stuff. I don't remember much about any one else. I know there was that Tim Ryan guy who didn't make much of an impression on me. And for the life of me I can't remember who else was there but I think I only mentioned 9. Oh I cheated and saw the name - John Delaney. Ummm, I don't remember him doing anything, sorry John.

So after that, I'd say the only ones who should move forward are Warren, Amy, and Booker. I guess maybe Castro too. They should really limit the next debate to like 8 max, 10 is just too much.

Yeah I literally cringed when Beto started speaking Spanish. It felt like when you were a teen and your mom tried to show she was cool by speaking slang.

The pander meter was reading high all night but went out of range at that moment.

Also, Chuck Todd is awful. His gun confiscation question was ridiculous.

I don't know if I can find it again but I saw a priceless tweet with a picture of Booker's expression when that happened.

Haha. That's sad I didn't even know that. In my defense I've only ever voted R before trump and I wasn't ever going to vote anything but R, so I didn't care who the D was. Though I suppose that's not really much of a defense is it? More of a 'that is why we're in this shit sandwich'. I'll give trump this, at least he's woken me up (tho clearly I have more to learn).
Thanks for educating me.
