I was genuinely happy to see Living Colour released this yesterday:

Times Up was released 30 years ago and sadly we're still fighting the same fight...

If you don't like the current agenda, it's your responsibility to go out an VOTE!

Living Color's Vernon Reid is a great Twitter follow if you're not doing it already: @vurnt22

I have a guitar string of his from a show I attended in the 1990s. Never occurred to me he'd be active on Twitter. Thanks.

Yeah, I'll second Vernon being a great Twitter follow. He engages with fans directly not just on current events, but also on technical music matters. He's also a huge comic and superhero nerd.

TobyMac's music and even when he was part of dcTalk heavily talks about racism in our world. His songs are powerful and the world would benefit if people would stop and listen. Here are some of my favorites

Starts With Me:

Love Broke Through

Colored People

I guess it's my bad, but surprised no love for Fugazi from the oldsters here, heh. In any case, their entire catalog is pretty heavy into songs of protest.

I love Fugazi. 13 Songs, Repeater, and Steady Diet of Nothing were almost on a continuous loop at my house in the early 90s.

Tyrant, you'll be damned by your power
And the blood you've spilt
You will die by the sword

The violence
We Suffer
Why you live for?
The walls of creation have been destroyed
You may raise your rifle to the sun
But you have not won
No, you have not won

Bastard, you won't be forgiven
And no, we won't lay down
Tyrant, you're the plague of existence
Tyrant, you're the king of the damned

The battles of this fashioned war
Ain't what we've been fighting for
Tyrant, you know your time has come
As soldiers emptied
Their rounds into your side
Tyrant, you know your time has come
As soldiers marched on ...
Your empty skin

It's like he was looking 50 years into the future when he wrote this.
