NC is showing in favor of of Trump according to NYT. I'm already losing my mind. The polls are f'n pointless. Everything I've seen around me is Trump Trump Trump and that's what we're seeing so far.

The Latino mindset of machismo plays a big part.

This was discussed quite a bit in the latest episode of the Left, Right, & Center podcast.

Florida appears done. An 11 point Trump swing with Cubans.
What I've read in various places is that the Cuban American community has a very deep revulsion for anything resembling leftist politics, due to Castro and what he did with Cuba. It kind of makes sense to me. I mean if I had one horrible experience with politics on one side of the aisle, but no equally horrible experience with the other side then I might regard the one side as the evil one. It doesn't make sense in the larger scheme of things, because you'd have to be a hardcore conspiracy theorist to believe there's an imminent communist takeover of the US happening soon. Look at who is President, and which party controls the senate, and what kind of justices are on the Supreme Court. How is all that possible if leftists had dominant power in this country?

The other thing in Florida, the Cubans are very anti-Castro. Obama did the Democrats no favors opening up to Cuba, which gave Trump the opportunity to close things back down. That is probably a pretty big part of their support. Probably the wrong move by Obama if the Democrats want to win Florida.

So, it the Florida polling difference/error going to bleed over into other states? That is the big question now, it appears to me.

This is not particularily useful information unless we (or more likely, an expert) knows where these votes are coming from in those states and what the remaining uncounted vote is likely to look like.

Or people worried about the legitimacy of our democracy. Biden (if he loses) might win by 8 or 9 million votes and still lose. That isn't a sore loser situation that is a melt down waiting to happen.

Biden is durably ahead in NC and Trump has a very narrow path if it falls. He is ahead in Ohio. If Ohio falls for Biden the path is essentially closed. It is just going to be a long night.

All that might be true, but seeing this unfold is a stark reminder that as a nation we're still really, really fuct up. This should have a been a decisive (D) victory and the fact that it's not speaks volumes about our current status as we're led by a dictator wanna-be during the largest crisis we've seen as a nation in a century.

Oh I agree. This is a dose of reality for a lot of folks. This system is a failure. Hopefully Biden pulls it out but people can't forget this feeling that despite overwhelming support we are always this close to a dictatorship. The Democrats have to seize the opportunity to change it if they have the chance or we will eventually fall.
