Greetings,
I have a Netgear wireless router (WGR614v7 as mentioned above) that needs to be reset at least once daily to allow new connections. There are two devices that are connected with a wire (AppleTV and DirecTV DVR) and several other devices that connect wirelessly (1st gen. AppleTV, 3 laptops, 1 iPod touch and 2 iPads). If a device loses the connection (i.e. is shut off in the case of the laptops or are removed from the house and returned in the case of the various iDevices) the router will not allow a connection without first being reset. The network will show up as available to connect, but the connection cannot be made. After resetting the router, all devices can connect without issue.
I was about to go look for a new router but thought I would see if anyone had this problem previously and was able to fix it. I checked out the netgear forum and there were other people with the same problem that did not get any help. Does anyone know if there is a setting I can change on the router, or if the router is just not cool with that many devices connecting to it and I need another/different one.
Also, if that is the case, are newer routers better able to handle many and more devices?
Thanks.
I will say that the network is secured, but connections are not controlled so that anyone with the password can connect.
