looking for free image manipulation software

nothing complicated - I just want to be able to resize, crop and convert images from one format to another.

I've used ACDSee for years - I used to have a full-featured-but-supported-by-ads free version which no longer seems to be available.

if anyone can suggest a free, spyware-free alternative I'd appreciate it.

It all depends what all you need it to do but there are two excellent freeware image programs.

IrfanView is my default image viewer and is excellent at resizing images and it has moderate editing capability.

For more advanced Photoshopesque-level editing try The Gimp (GNU Image Manipulation Program) which is actually quite powerful for a free program.
