Yahoo toolbar is dead to me

Ive just spent over an hour trying to get my old yahoo bar back. I gave up and deleted the new one. I lost the use of my Google toolbar years ago and missed it until I found that the Yahoo bar allowed me to add icons to it for gmail and such. Ive used it many many years. Yesterday it updated or something and I could not find a way to remove useless icons from it or add ones I needed it to have like Gmail. Then it started trying to hijack my search stuff and on new tabs gave me a picture and a search bar..I like a blank page. The pics were ok. But not being able to customize it killed it for me. I finally had to kill it all off.

Now Ill have to go to mail the old way of custom desktop icons. Damn. Thanks for ruining something that worked Yahoo!

You could just use the bookmark bar.

Yahoo Toolbar was dead to me about 11 seconds after the first (and only) time it tricked me into installing it by not paying close enough attention to the check boxes in some other, unrelated piece of software.

Ya I tried a couple...one gave me adware that popped up a bunch of shit. Took me a lot of work to get rid of it. Fought me all the way. I gave up.

As for my bookmarks I have about 6 pages or more of them and need to clean them all out first.

I think Yahoo toolbar was dead to 90% of PC users back when Yahoo actually mattered.

Welcome to 2016 ;)

So...I'm guessing you don't use Firefox with Gmail Notifier and Yahoo Mail Notifier add-ons? Are you using some browser created by a small European country I never heard of?

No Ive not heard of them. Installed them both. Dont see the yahoo one at all now but the gmail one seems to be working. Hope I remember I installed it and where to look. I dont like it popping up in the bottom right with one of the messages. Ill look about turning that part off. If not ill have to delete it.

EDIT: Ok turned that off. The gmail one seems to be working fine. But the yahoo one is not showing up anywhere except that its installed. I have new mail but theres no notice and no icon or anything.

Right click on the Toolbar area (mine is upper right area) and select "Customize". You should now see a window filled with various icons (including the Yahoo widget) that you can now drag and drop to the toolbar area. If your toolbar is too full, it might be scrolled off, so instead use the customize area to remove unnecessary icons. For example, I removed "Hello" and "Pocket" - neither of which I'd ever use.

Thanks. Had to add it myself. Removed some I didn't like and have more room than when I started.

The gmail notifier when I have no email thats new will open in my current tab of my browser. That's the way I like it. But if theres new mail and I click it it opens like a little preview window there in the top right with the new mail showing to read and such. I hate that. I want it to use a browser tab even when theres new mail .I cant find the setting for that or online help for that. Do you know how to change it?

NM got it.
