PC Sound/Speakers Issue Help

Post by Grifman »

I just got a new PC (yay!) and I'm trying to hook up an old set of Boston digital speakers to it. The speakers are digital audio with the input an RCA (I think that's what it's called - it's the copper/bronze connector thing) input. My old PC had a digital RCA output so that worked fine, I have an RCA input/output cord. However, my new PC only has an optical output. So is there some sort of adaptor that I can buy that will hook to my RCA connector cable to convert it to optical. I've looked all over Amazon and New Egg and don't see anything but it's probably because I don't know what I am looking for. Thanks.

you are looking for a S/PDIF (Toslink) Digital Optical to Digital Coaxial (RCA) Audio Converter

like

it's weird the motherboard didn't at least provide a slot panel with a digital coax connector, tho.

Thanks! I'm no sure it's surprising, these speakers are probably 10+ years old, I suspect newer ones use totally optical cables now.
