The box cost may be the same, but there's usually a monthly "service" fee. If you'll show us an anonymized line-item bill, we might be able to see something.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Yeah, directv hits you for $7 for each additional tv, but their upcharges for HD, DVR and Whole Home DVR are per account, not per TV.
I think it's $10 a month for DVR, and I think I pay $7 a month for their protection plan, which refreshes all the equipment every 2 years (there are no rental fees on the boxes - one DVR and then a wireless receiver for all the other TVs).
