gmail button oddness

I was messing around with my gmail and now my toolbar button is not the same. When I click my gmail button it opens a little preview mail window. It used to open my gmail on a full browser page and be in my inbox view. I had this happen before but cant remember how I solved it. I also cant find an answer online. Preview panel is turned off in settings. Not sure how to make it simply open gmail with my gmail button instead of the little preview mail panel.

If theres no new mail and all mail is marked as read then it will open gmail in my browser as normal. But if there is a new msg then it shows it in a preview window when I click my gmail button. I dont want that. I always want it to go straight to my inbox new msg or not.

BTW the gmail button I keep speaking of is Gmail notifier.
