I tend to consume my ebooks with TTS enabled (but I use text-to-speech, NOT audible subscription, as based on the speed I read I'll spend way too much). And there are a few books here and there that turned OFF TTS. Over 99.9 % of the books I bought or downloaded (over 2000 at last count) allow TTS with Kindle, but I just ran into another one: Hidden Brain by Shankar Vedantam (who has a podcast of the same name). No TTS.
Well, there are two ways about this. I can convert the book into a MOBI or other format and use a different ereader... Or I can send it to my PC and use TTS there.
Calibre for PC by itself doesn't have TTS, but it's simple to add that ability via a simple download that hooks to Windows SAPI. Right now, I got my new BT headphone linked to PC and enjoying the book in TTS.
Ha, take THAT, darn publisher! (no TTS? I'll show you TTS)
