Editing MP3 tags

Post by stessier »

I need to edit the Tag data for my MP3 so my MP3 player will group them correctly for me. I used to be able to do it no problem in Windows 7, but now that I have Windows 10 I don't appear to be able to do it. All the tag fields (like Album, Artist, etc.) are grayed out. Anyone have any suggestions?

TagScanner will handle all of your MP3 tagging needs (and then some). Although it's Russian, so they might steal all your infoz. I've been using it for a long time.

And every other race, creed, colour, tint or hue

Make up bags of change
But the monkey in the corner
Well he's slowly drifting out of range

I use MusicBee which does all sorts of things in addition to what you're looking for.

Thanks guys.

I found that if I go under Properties -> Details, I can edit the tags, but I can't in File Explorer.

I'm going to take a look at MP3Tag. I have to admit, the fact that the RM9's is of Russian origin makes it a no-go for me. Probably stupid, but there it is.

also see Musicbrainz Picard

i'm annoyed that Windows doesn't handle modifying tags in Ogg Vorbis files from Explorer.

If it helps, Russians are pretty into MP3s. :)

TagScanner is the best tool I’ve used for the job, but I assume there are plenty of others that will do the job.
