I guess it's time for me to do my every few years desktop upgrade, but with the recent security flaws, not sure whether Intel is still the best choice? I know the patch caused a 15% slowdown or something to that effect. So maybe another AMD?
Anyone currently shopping CPU's with some insight?
CPU choices for new build with recent hw security issues?

Re: CPU choices for new build with recent hw security issues?
Recommend browsing Anandtech forums - CPU. Dependent on use. Gaming only not such a big deal. Doing more such as video editing then amd thread ripper or ryzen may be way to go. The full fallout isn't really known yet. Pretty much everything out there is affected.
Intel needs new silicon to get past Meltdown. So far it is believed Spectre fix is lesser impacted.

Thanks, Montag, researching it now. Was hoping not to have to delve in if someone had already researched recently!
