Help me choose between these PC's!

Post by Darkstar One »

Note: My gaming will be done at 1920x1080, if that affects your choice.

Option 1:

Option 2:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/ibuypower- ... Id=6180825

I believe the 8GB RX580 is slightly better than the 3GB GTX 1060--but I just can't make up my mind on whether that tips the scales enough. Help me! :)

AMD Ryzen 7 processor is also slightly faster than the i7 (3.6 vs 3.2gHz).

Why would you avoid the Dell?

Never cared for their proprietary stuff or pricing. But that may be a thing of the past. Just the way they do business over the years was not for me. Used to put used parts in new systems too.

CPU/GPU performance for those two should be nearly equal, so I would go with the Dell, because it has a larger SSD. With the iBuypower's small SSD, you'll quickly run out of room for game installations. I know from experience -- my first SSD was that small, and I couldn't keep more than one AAA game installed at a time.

In both the SSD should just be used for the OS like Windows.

I hear good stuff on Origin PC and my pick of Digital Storm pcs. I think DS may have a box with the same price point...not sure.

I disagree. Yes, your OS should be installed on the SSD, but if you have the space so should your games, especially anything with a noticeable loading time.

I split my games depending on type. PUBG goes on the SSD. Far Cry 1 can live on the spinny disc.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

Man I loved Far Cry. Are you actually replaying it? How does it look?

Also, I do roughly the same thing. TBS games.... platter drive. FPS with a tendency to crash a lot (looking at you Fallout 3), SSD so I spend less time waiting.

It looks ok. The game looks better than the cutscenes, which are movies rather than rendered. My issues are with the gameplay rather than the graphics. I gave up at a certain point and gave myself an ammo cheat when I gut stuck on one level.

I don't recall the ammo issue. I do remember the INSANE AI that could see you creeping through heavy foliage from 2 miles away. That was a pain. Frackin' guard towers...

That, too. The jeep level was not fun.
