network configuration

Post by Montag »

Here is what I am after:

AT&T rounter DHCP on but wifi off --------> Google WIFI mesh for wireless
|
|--------> Netgear Nighthawk R7800 functioning as hub (setting is access point) ---------> hub

I cannot get the wireless and wired network to see each other. Wireless and wired see the internet.

Both are on the 192.168.1.XXX and 255.255.255.0 subnet mask and 192.168.1.254 (AT&T router) default gateway

Before switching the wireless duty to Google WIFI, I had the Netgear handle the wireless and the AT&T doing the DHCP. It worked fine before.

Ok I was wrong. The wireless connections have 192.168.1.48 (Google WIFI connected to AT&T router IP address) as the default gateway.

192.168.1.48 is Google Wifi or the AT&T's IP address?

If it is Google Wifi's, that means Google Wifi has a separate DHCP and NAT? If so you probably need to have your netgear to be somehow behind Google Wifi to make it easier for wired and wireless to see each other.

IIRC, WiFi router should set its own DHCP.
