Dropbox basic functionality

So...I want to download entire folders to my android device from a shared dropbox folder. I want the files *outside* the dropbox ecosystem.
How?

Yeah, ok, never mind, seems like they were slow to put that functionality in, then had it for a little while, then removed it, as well as killing some 3rd party apps that did the job too.
So...buh-bye dropbox.

They also recently limit Dropbox basic to 3 devices which make it useless to me.
