I have this enormous Windows file: C:\Windows\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\DeliveryOptimization\Cache\9e3b829d0a71726926cb974954328e0790ea319e\1182933c6a30bbeea71aa7f14f3e086f2783cc4a1bb796b4202838c994d660359e3b829d0a71726926cb974954328e0790ea319e.pieceshash

It looks like it is taking up 75GB. Is it something I can delete? What is it doing for me? I just installed a Microsoft Store game, could this be some residual file? I was just going to delete it but I'm worried I might break something

When I was a much younger dfs I was in charge of a VMS machine from digital equipment corporation. This ran the precursor to Windows NT which was the precursur to Windows XP and down the line to 10. Looking over the size of the files I noticed a very large file ....called swapfile....I don't remember the extension which I guess is progress.....To make a long story short I deleted the swapfile on a running VMS operating system and Hilarity ensued as I soon learned that the system would continue to run, but not reboot in it's current state. That was back in the days of service calls and all's well that ends well. Today we have the internet and google searches.

It's a special folder that permits your PC to upload and download OS updates from or to other PCs on your network. This can help speed up the update process for other Windows 10 systems on your local network. But if you don't really need it, just disable Windows Update Delivery Optimization to save space and then you should be able to delete that folder without any problem.

Thanks for that info! I had rebooted the machine and the file was still there so I was a bit concerned.

I remember DEC! We had equipment from them at the space center.
