Looking for Time Life Books "The Old West" series

Post by hentzau »

I know this is a long shot, but I'm scouring everywhere. Does anyone have (or know of someone that has) the old Time Life series of books, The Old West? I want them for my Dead Man's Hand/A Town Called Zenda project. I found quite a few on Ebay but if someone here happened to have them and was looking to get rid of them reasonably, I'd like to grab them.

Bad timing - I saw a full set a couple of months ago at Half Price Books for $35. I was tempted to get them myself.

Dammit! I just stopped at mine and they had nothing.

HPB .com is a used seller's network. The prices are good, but the processing fee tends to be ~$2.50 per book.
It's almost as if people are the problem.

26 book series? Ouch.

Either I misremembered or they raised the rates. Now it's $4 for the first book, $3 for each additional.

Looks like there was actually a "best of" or something. Would that be beneficial?

Woot!

Half Price Books. $75. Missing one volume that I quickly replaced from Ebay for about $8.

Sweet! I went through a huge Time-Life Books phase many (many) years ago and when we moved to Colorado in '92 I ended up getting rid of all of them, a crap-ton of books that I didn't want to move... including the entire "Old West" series.

Very nice. My parents had this set, but they are long gone - probably destroyed by water in one of my father's improvised 'storage units' years ago. I used to read them quite a bit, and used them for reference for a thing or two, too.
