Looking for a video card

My 6800 GT video card is crapping out on me. After about 30 mins of play, it will start to get static/artifacts. I think it's heat related. I checked the fan and it still going so, I'm guessing it's just time to die...

I'm looking for something equivalent or one step up. I need it to support AGP 8x, I'd prefer a nvidia product, but i'm open to ATI as well.

Well I dont have a card but I do recommend the X1950 pro. Just got the 512 mb version for my old agp and it screams now.

funny that you said that, that's what I was looking into. My coworker is selling his for $100. That seems like a good deal.

What video card did you first have? What are your system specs?

Thats weird. I have a 6800gt agp 8x card that started doing that 2 weeks ago abd died a few days ago. I have my rma and am sending it back for replacement next week. Im using my trusty old ti4200 till then. Cant play a thing except Insurgency mod for HL2

NWN2 wont even run because it sees how sucky the video card is

I have a athlon 64 3000, single core. I had a 6800. I was not able to play much of anything anymore. Could not play Overlord with out putting most everything to low. Supream commander was a joke lol.

Now with this card Overlord runs at 30 to 40 fps with everything on full. and I can now play supream commander runs good now, with all detail on high.

I got my first card from Mwave.com, got a referbished card for 125.00 but it was bad and I had to send it back, got the card I have now from ebay for 140.00, and it fun flawless.

100 sounds like a great deal.

Yea with no problem at all, could use another gig of ram tho. I did run the SC benchmark that comes with the game and I averaged 28 fps. Now thats running full detail but only at 1078. But thats good enough for me.

Well, it turns out my coworker only had the x1650 pro. Fry's had a x1650 pro for $79 after rebate, so I picked that up. I can't justify spending more than $100 at the moment, especially when just purchasing the xbox 360 recently. I somehow managed to convice the wife

I think the double of ram compared to my old 6800 will give me a jump in performance.

CC has the GeForce 8600GT for $129 after MIR. The 8600 GTS somehow is $100 more. Crazy pricing!

Ya. AFAIK there are no AGP 8xxx series nVidia cards. Best bet is a 7900GS.

I just jumped from a 9800 pro to a x1950pro 512mb. Athlon 64 3000, 1 gig ram. Holy crap was I getting hosed all this time. rFactor is freaking screaming now!
