I've got gamer's ADD. It's very rare for me to finish a game, so I never expect to see the end of any of them. I usually play a game for a weekend - maybe a week - and then install a new/old one. Grinds don't bother me - I'm really just there to have some fun and when the fun stops, I move to another game.

The only exceptions to date are Minecraft, Everquest, and City of Heroes. The MMO's are gone due to monthly subscription.

Recently (within the last three years) think I beat Knights of the Old Republic once, Evil Genius once, StarTopia a couple times, Space Rangers 2 once ... and that might be it. Hundreds, nay, thousands of hours of gaming and I hardly beat anything.

In for King's Bounty. It's cheaper to rebuy KB and KBAP than to buy Crosswinds expansion on its own!

I agree with the sentiments on King's Bounty, but it is one of those games I find myself coming back to regularly. For $8 and some change it is a tremendously good value.

I did it. That's the last of my holiday cheer. Now I'll have to go back to saving my allowance to buy games. My Steam list is now...

King's Bounty: Collection
Borderlands GOTY
Torchlight
Greed: Black Border
Sword of the Stars - Complete Collection
Star Wars: Empire at War Gold
Star Wolves 2
Zombie Driver
Company of Heroes Complete Pack
Overlord: Raising Hell
Bioshock (NA)
Zombie Shooter 2
Complete Shooter Pack
Oddworld Abes Oddysee and Exoddus package
Overlord
Sacred Gold
Evil Genius
Defense Grid: The Awakening
The Best of TiltedMill
Risk II Stand Alone
X-Com Complete Pack
Ultimate Doom
Portal
Stubbs the Zombie
Shadowgrounds Survivor and Shadowgrounds
X3: Reunion

... and roughly 95% of those were "It's on sale and dirt cheap, why not" purchases.

I bought the Platinum pack off Amazon. Been playing the first one and liked it but was getting very frustrated with running out of gold to buy an Army after getting into fights with equal or stronger armies.

then I discovered the cheats, actually makes the game less frustrating having enough gold to replace my armies

Bought King's Bounty against my better judgment. Figure I'll get to it next summer. Maybe.

Overlord has been a huge surprise hit here. Kids just sit around watching with their mouths hanging open, completely engrossed while I play. When the minions urinated in the Halfling homes, they laughed their asses off.

A lot of fun so far.

I finally caved and got SimCity4 and Mount & Blade Warband. Those were two that I was on the borderline of buying in previous sales, but eventually resisted. Well, I resisted no more.

Anyone have anything to say about the indie deal, Protogalaxy?

I just found an entertaining 25 min look into the game - WTF is Protogalaxy? Funny video. Still on the fence on if I'll put $2.50 down on it. One note is apparently they've set up the ability to set hotkeys for weapons which wasn't in the game when this video came out.

I read somewhere that the DVD based version of Sim City 4 doesn't run on Win 7/64, but the Steam version does? Can anyone verify that?

It reminded me a bit of System Shock. More linear than System Shock, but you can go back to previous areas, so it was similar. Good scary atmosphere. You can upgrade your suit and weapons, but I never felt like I was overpowered, so there was always that feeling of dread.

The end gets a bit annoying, but it is one of the few games I have managed to finish in the last few years.

I've got Greed Corp on my wishlist for some reason, so I guess I'll pick that up.

Been interested in Dead SPace for awhile, so I guess I'll take that too.

Don't know anything about the Ball or Swords and Soldiers. I'll look around before deciding on those.

Just watched the video. Wow, yeah, that does look interesting. Somewhat innovative gameplay, in that it takes the gravity gun from HL2 and multiplies it by 1000, plus, there's a ball.

Anyone looking for FPS with a twist, take a look at the video.

Do I need all that DLC for HoI 3? The base game is $4.99. Never played one of those before and from those screenshots, it looks like a very dense game.

The DLC is just graphics or music additions, apart from the Semper Fi expansion (reviews on that seem mixed to positive)

I've been intrigued about Amnesia as feedback from OOers playing it indicates that it is so scary it requires frequent breaks to calm down.

I'll probably bite and pick up the indie Blueberry Garden while I'm at it (80% off all sale - I'm not worried about a daily deal). Then they will sit uninstalled in my game list indefinitely. This will be my first purchase for me this holiday sale.

If I didn't have Amnesia and Dead Space already, I'd be getting them. This looks like one of my bigger days, as I'm likely getting Swords & Soldiers, Sniper, Kane & Lynch 2, and Greed Corp. Any disabling on any of those?

Well, I'm in for Dead Space and Amnesia.

I think part of me actually believes I'll be able to play these games after I'm dead and in the Netherworld. I can't think of any other reason I'd have so many games in my backlog and still feel the need to get more.

Damn it. Yet another sale.

The idea that these sales hurt the industry is simply untrue. It might hurt specific developers, in that I've spread my money around rather than buying from 1 or 2 developers, but I've spent over a hundred bucks so far with a few more days to go, whereas I probably would have spent 20 bucks on DoW II gold edition, and that's it.
