I've been looking at this too, but I've sworn off Early Access due to the number of games I got in EA and got burned out by the time they were released. By the way, what's GA?Jolor wrote:I was going to wait for The Long Dark to hit GA but, at $10, I hit the 'purchase' button. It's been #1 on my wishlist for a while.

Since the game is early access, I would assume so or some other abbreviation of similar meaning.TheMix wrote:General Availability?

Mistfall is good, as is Darkest Night. Both can be played solo if you can't find a friend to play with at some point.

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
It really depends on which board games you like.
I've enjoyed Tiny Epic Galaxies, Viticulture and Zombicide in the past (either in the game or the physical versions). Euphoria was ok, but I've only played it once, and it wasn't until midway through the game that the game clicked for me.
Lots of people like Cosmic Encounters, but I find that it can be very unbalanced at times. Also, not really a fan of Tiny Epic Defenders.
And of course, you can always check BGG for reviews.

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
I already have Mistfall.
I was waiting on Darkest Night because it's the original version, not the revamped version coming out soon-ish. I backed the Kickstarter on that one. I'd like to see whether they are going to update the DLC when the Kickstarter version is delivered.

Tempted by this because it looks like a cool Homeworld type game, but the reviews are brutal and supposedly the devs abandoned which means it will be heading to the bargain bin soon enough.Isgrimnur wrote:Battlefleet Gothic: Armada -60% $39.99 $15.99 (77)

Re: Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek
First, it's not homeworld. Not even close really. It's pure 2D tactical ship combat in real time, with pause and give orders as well as the ability to slow/speed time. There is no building of units, there is no resource generation (outside of some form of meta-cash used for upgrades between fights). Pick your ships up to a certain point value before the fight, then fight. Upgrade and/or buy new ships between fights.Jag wrote:Tempted by this because it looks like a cool Homeworld type game, but the reviews are brutal and supposedly the devs abandoned which means it will be heading to the bargain bin soon enough.Isgrimnur wrote:Battlefleet Gothic: Armada -60% $39.99 $15.99 (77)
The campaign is a series of scenarios, but there is a meta game with ship leveling and skill choices and such.
Personally, I loved it. Loved it. It was exactly what I expected when I bought it, and it was awesome.
That said, I never played multiplayer so I never encountered the imbalances in an arena where they mattered. If you're not planning on playing multiplayer with strangers, who cares what the balance is between the races.
Interestingly, I recently read some of the reviews steam had on top recently and most of them could be true or untrue, but none of the comments were relevant to my time with the game. If you noticed, only the recent reviews dipped into "mixed", which I take as most enjoying the game for what it was around the time it was released, and that the community that is still playing it today are all about the multiplayer, which of course balance matters. So recent reviews aren't as good as the older reviews, but, and this is personal opinion, this is probably not based on the quality of the game declining.
Lastly, The game has been out for quite awhile now, and if the developers have moved on to other things, well that's more the norm than unusual or a failing of the developers. They put out several big patches and some DLC. That's more than you get from many developers who's games only have middling success in sales.
Is it worth 15 bucks? Almost certainly. I spent more than that on it and I'm as cheap as they come (well, almost) and I never regretted it.

Odd that they didn't do anything for Civ VI or Deus Ex, seeing as they're both being pimped as part of the hardware sale.

I'm just about done with Witcher 3 and have little remaining in my backlog so I will be doing serious restocking at the next seasonal sale.
