Steam's Deals of the Day/Weekend/Midweek

Postby JetFred » Sun Jul 08, 2012 2:15 pm

I just imagine the Valve guys sitting around thinking of the crappiest games to put on sale before the sale, and they just laugh and laugh.

Even if it really doesn't work that way at all, the reality in my head is the true one.

Agreed. I've even squirreled away a little more money to up my budget for it. Many people are interpreting the stars' positions to point to Thursday as the day.

Really tempting. Haven't played a good modern wargame in many years probably since Fleet Command.

Edit Review here: http://www.simhq.com/_naval/naval_040b.html

Good

Easy learning curve helped by intro tutorial missions.
Well-balanced gameplay that offer a twist by playing missions from different sides.
Challenging competitive multiplayer with Steam friends.
It's a naval war game, which we don't see very often.

Could Be Better

Better interface customizability would be very helpful.
A bigger selection of missions is needed. Watch for the promised mission editor.
Glitches rear their ugly heads from time to time.

All DLC except for the Quest for the Lost Eternia Shards is also on sale. All of the on-sale DLC can be had for under $14.

The official forums are pretty active, but i don't have time to check them right now. That could also be a game killer for me, especially if the missions are long.

They can take an hour or longer, which is longer than I can play in one sitting. It doesn't appear to have been changed the last time I visited the official forum, but I will check again.

I suppose then I will wait for the in-game save and wait for a same/cheaper sale in the future. Back to my Icelandic Duke, I suppose.

Downloaded the demo. It's actually pretty good but I absolutely don't have the patience for these types of games anymore (micromanaging each unit), which is kind of sad since I used to enjoy it. Maybe when I'm retired and not mentally and physically exhausted after each day of work and kids.

For some reason, the price on DG spiked. -50% $9.99 $4.99

The package went up to $7.99, the DLC by itself went to $4.45

And it's marked as Summer Sale until July 23rd.

Can anyone comment on how much content is in the CKII expansions vs. the base game?

The base game is $9.99 and the complete pack is $29.99. I'm pondering if the expansions are worth $20 to a complete CK newb.

Thanks.

*ahem*

Do not buy the Crusader Kings II Collection!!

Base game is $9.99. The DLC is on sale individually, all of which can be obtained for another $11.01 total. And half of that DLC is just more music tracks.

Also, the Collection only contains 6 of the 9 DLC.

Of the 9 total DLC, 4 are only songs, 3 are graphic-only updates, one is Create your own ruler, and the last is the ability to play as the Islamic characters.

Gah...just shows how good of a deal that Paradox bundle on Amazon was the other day...5 Paradox games, including CKII, for $12 or around there. Lunacy!

There's something funky about this one. The list of games only comes to $125 and sells for $50 saving you $75. Not sure what is missing to get it up to $219.92.
