I concur. I wrote this one off as a second rate Diablo clone back when it came out, but I played it a few years ago and ended up absolutely loving it. It's genuinely one of the most engrossing and lovely RPGs I've ever played. If you enjoy this type of game, you're doing yourself a huge disservice by not playing it.

I bought that, plus HoMM II, III, and IV to remind myself how much I suck at them. :D

Same. I had skipped it for about a year after release. One day I was out of anything to play and came across this and Arx Fatalis both on sale and scooped them up. Wasn't expecting much. Both turned out to be fabulous games and I finished them both. Totally different games too btw. Such a silly named game but one of the best RPGs out.

I am trying Divine Divinity right now. It has a lot of little wrinkles that you don't expect in a game given it's isometric sprite looks. People expect a Diablo clone, but it's clearly more than that.

OTOH, its performance isn't quite up to par, at least on my machine, which is a little outdate for modern games, but shouldn't be this slow.

I played HOMM2 and was reminded how much I suck at it. Even on easy, I'm getting served hard. :)

I got back into Starfleet Command (1) and recalled most of what I wrote in the FAQ. :D The truth is, the easiest way to play is get a drone ship and just keep spamming drones (guided missiles) at the enemy. If you follow with your ship judiciously (slow the game down by at least 20%) so you follow the missiles in and exploit any damage, you can blow up even dreadnoughts with your destroyer or light cruiser.

Quick heads up on a good deal I just got. Keep in mind 2 things.....I own Witcher 3 already and this may have been a fluke.

Let me post how the prices go first.

Witcher 3 GotY - $20

Witcher 3 DLCs are -
$5
$10
--------
$15

And The DLC pass which gets you both is - $12.50

Ok I wanted the addons but by getting the pass I get both for $2.50 cheap than buying them separately. Ok So I purchased the pass. BUT when I look in my inv it gave me the GotY edition. So for $12.50 I got the $20 GotY one. NICE! If you own Witcher 3 and want both DLC I suggest now is the time it seems.

Update...got an email..

You have been upgraded to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year Edition! You are receiving this because you own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and all its expansions on GOG.com. Don't worry, those games are still in your library - the GOTY Edition has been added as a separate product.

Sold! I started playing the first one within the past year, but dropped it for some reason (I actually got a lot farther in it than I typically do with that genre these days). I thought it was pretty good, but it didn't blow me away.

I wonder if the second is MOTS or better?

i actually voted for Firewatch but no complaints here - i now have all of Flying Wild Hog's games. hope they come out with a new title soon-ish. they've also been very generous with game DLC and extra content to the owners of their titles.

The Polish games sale currently ongoing has some good deals. I picked up Witcher 3 for $27.

Note: I didn't realize this until after I bought it, but the Game of the Year Edition (which includes everything) can be had for the same price as the base game! That seems like quite a steal.

I had to grab Worlds of Ultima: Savage Empire.

It was the very first PC game I ever bought. Brought it home and had a disk error on one of the floppies. Never did get it to work. Took it back to Babbage's (yes, Babbage's) and exchanged it for LOOM.

In honor of it, I've named every computer I've ever owned some variation on SAVAGE. Savage, Savage II, Savage III, Savage XP, etc.
