Steam - free Skyrim special edition with conditions

Post by Daehawk »

The Skyrim special edition comes out last of Oct and you get it free from Steam if you own the game plus all DLC on Steam already. I owned the normal version so I grabbed a key from G2A for the Legendary for $10 that way I get my SE free when it comes out.

If you own the game and all the DLC what is the added value in the Special Edition?

From what I can tell it's a re-do of game visuals to bring it more in line with current generation graphics.
Higher resolution, more plants, depth of field fx, etc.
I haven't seen any mention of changes to game play, but I didn't look that hard either.

Yeah, I haven't looked to deeply into it either but I was rather surprised to hear it's happening. I also assumed it was to bring a 5 year old game up to the standards of the new console generation but I'm surprised it would exceed (or meet) anything that PC gamers have been experiencing now for years with the various mods and tweaks.
Maybe next year, maybe no go

They worked hard to make the engine work across the different platforms. Once they had it in place for the consoles, it probably wasn't that expensive or time consuming to add the third platform. It probably won't take that many sales to make it profitable.

Besides, they just finished the final Fallout 4 DLC. They're due to announce a new game before too long. Maybe they want to bring The Elder Scrolls back into the forefront of peoples minds.
