Every time something like this happens (even here) this is the only thing I think of:
Maybe next year, maybe no go

I love both...as mentioned in the Link/Controller specific thread, I kind of took a gamble on it being targeted to someone like me, and I was right. It does take some muscle memory adjustment time, but for someone who never got used to a console controller for FPS and 3rd person perspective games (Uncharted, et al), it's perfect. I don't even know why, I just know that for someone who has gamed almost exclusively on KB + mouse, it's a godsend in this console-centric post modern gaming world.Enough wrote:So dang tempted by the Steam hardware sale yet again. Any more thoughts on Steam Link and/or the controller now that they have been out awhile? I checked the thread, but the last reply was long ago.

No doubt DJT gave Putin a call and made a deal with Putin to stop them, although they in now way work for him. As part of the deal and in the interests of Net Neutrality Steam will henceforth be known as SteamTrump.
That is all.

Must be the reason why the sales are underwhelming, Rip.

I picked up a steam link (extra $8 for shipping). That way I can work on the backlog from the couch

I wish I'd known before now that you could get two cards per day by perusing your queue.
On the other hand, screw Steam. I'm not jumping through hoops for $0.20 a day. Screw cards.

Heh. Too bad this isn't the "name that movie" thread. I know that one.
Hey, the more people here who shun the card system, the more people there are to occasionally just send them to me out of kindness.

I ended up with two Wolfenstein shooters and Endless Legends. I'm probably done. I still have unplayed stuff from older sales. This all should get me through until the next sale. Total was about $20.

I ended up buying one from Amazon at the sale price since I have the Prime shipping thing. I really hope the games I want to stream play nice. I decided to run an ethernet cable to help increase the chances of a happy success.Pyperkub wrote:I picked up a steam link (extra $8 for shipping). That way I can work on the backlog from the couch

Unless you have the most amazing wifi ever, ethernet streaming is almost a must. That or play in a really low res.

Re: 2016 Steam Winter Sale. It's here (when it's done crashi
For those who pay attention to such things, here is my take this year. All of the gifts I gave away were purchased at 100% legitimate and reliable third party sites, but none of them were from Steam, so I'm not counting them in the sale. I spent a grand total of $28.26 of real money on myself. The rest was from the goodwill of my fellow OOers (thank you thank you thank you) and from trading card credit. The moral of this story is that it pays to be nice and to sell cards.
gifts received (12 games, 1 DLC, 76 cards):
The Banner Saga 2
Lara Croft GO
Kelvin and the Infamous Machine
Sorcery! Part 3
Ironcast
Armikrog
Bit Blaster XL
Reveal the Deep
There's Poop in My Soup
12 Labours of Hercules 5: Kids of Hellas
The Age of Decadence
Bear With Me
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter VR (DLC)
purchased (21 games, 2 DLC):
Kings Under the Hill
Telltale Texas Hold'em
Minecraft: Story Mode + Adventure Pass
Tales of Monkey Island
Hidden: On the Trail of the Ancients
Breached
Domino Sky
Beautiful Japanese Scenery: Animated Jigsaws
Factotum 90
Pathologic Classic HD
Bohemian Killing
Alone in the Dark: Illumination
Life Is Strange Episodes 2-5
ABZU
Shadowrun: Hong Kong Extended Edition
Betrayal Collection
Police Quest - SWAT
Pharaoh + Cleopatra
Return to Krondor
Zeus + Poseidon
Void & Meddler Episode 1
Khet 2.0 Beamsplitter (DLC)
A Date in the Park - Collector's Edition (DLC)
If you know me at all, this is a tiny haul if you don't count all of the games I bought in bundles unrelated to the Steam sale. This is only partially due to the crappier sale prices. It is also due to my total lack of interest in paying more than $6 for anything considering the size of my backlog and the fact that I'll end up with AAA titles cheaper than that before I ever get to them. Further evidence of my own change in spending is that I bought almost nothing at all from Christmas sales in the actual store catalogs at Humble, Amazon, GMG, GamersGate, Indie Gala, or Bundle Stars.

Last call. You have until noon tomorrow to purchase whatever you want at the current sale prices, be they gifts or personal purchases.

I sold 21 free cards for about $1.47 and one that was a foil drop for $0.14. If STEAM wants to pay me ~$1.60 every sale for clicking a button a few dozen times, I'll take it. Also...can I have your stuff?Sudy Nym wrote:On the other hand, screw Steam. I'm not jumping through hoops for $0.20 a day. Screw cards.
