Salty beverages
Both sugary and salty foods can be quite tasty, yet when it comes to beverages only sugary drinks seem appealing. Why does the thought of a salty beverage disgust me so? Why will I glady eat a wide range of salty foods but I can't even consider the idea of consuming a salty drink?

The dehydration is more immediately noticeable would be my guess. It just isn't a good combination.Captain Caveman wrote:No, no, no. They don't make salty drinks precisely because they aren't tasty. My question is, why aren't they tasty? Salty foods are.
Sugary foods = good.
Sugary drinks = good.
Salty foods = good.
Salty drinks = yuck.... why?

Why would you ever drink anything with those names? Especially if the F is somehow accidentally misprinted as a J.tiny ogre wrote:My friends, in Japan, they make everything.
I actually drank a bottle of Monkey Fizz once, but I haven't had Salty Cat.
Monkey Fizz is grape soda. With a little bit of vinegar. No, don't ask, I don't get it either.

Bloody Marys. Plus I'll finish off the pickle or sauerkraut jar by taking a sip.
But yeah, in general you don't want to consume a huge glass of salted beverage. It's your body saying, "Hey, this will dehydrate me!" Thank god it doesn't say the same about alcohol.

Just had a "salty plum soda" at my local pho (Vietnamese noodle) place... Didn't like it that much.

That's simply not true. You can absorb water even if you reduced sodium intake to zero.Eduardo X wrote:Without sodium, you can't absorb water. If you don't have salt with your water, you die.
It wouldn't be healthy, of course - your body needs both. However, the balance of water and sodium in the body is controlled not by absorption, but by the sodium concentration of the urine.

I knew you were desperate Kelric, but trying to get your dog drunk just to stick it in his butt?Kelric wrote:My dog doesn't drink beer.
