Duke Nukem’ you really knew how to rebuke ‘em,
I’m waiting for your sequel forever,
Or will Duke be never,
Though if you finally arrive,
We will sing and dance,
About bubble gum and the fighting stance.

This is perhaps the greatest idea for a thread I've ever seen. And it's from lorax. Amazing. Are these poems supposed to be written by ourselves or are we using others'?

I'll try to come up with a poem some time this weekend.

I was playing Unreal Tournament against Red Fox,
against TML and Crumsteel, on Zaxxon's box,
I took a rocket in the face,
Of my body, there was no trace,
And now I must be going, to change my jocks.

( I played as "BlackwaterPark" on the server, if anyone remembers me and my awesome rocket-in-the-face techniques )

Who remembers this poem?
O, they ruled the solar system
Near ten thousand years before
In their single starcrossed scout ships
Mining ast'roids, spinning lore.

Then one true courageous miner
Spied a spaceship from the stars
Boarded he that alien liner
Out beyond the orb of Mars.

Yes, that ship was filled with danger
Mighty monsters barred his way
Yet he solved the alien myst'ries
Mining quite a lode that day.

O, they ruled the solar system
Near ten thousand years before
'Til one brave advent'rous spirit
Brought that mighty ship to shore.

Shapes fall to the ground
Turn and fall, then no more room.
Play again? Once more.

A Tetris haiku I just made up.
She's the puzzle piece behind the couch that makes the sky complete.

Found this site: http://www.jeffwofford.com/i76_poems.html

Does William Blake's A Poison Tree count since it was in Blade Runner?
End of line.

I'll repost my Morrowind poem from GG. This was written just before Morrowind came out, and Hetz was flooding the boards with Morrowind hype.

Twas the night before Morrowind,
And all through the forum,
Not a man could be found
To maintain the decorum.

GGers were hunched down before their PC
While wives just got angry and watched their TV.
As I read Hetz's postings for the 25th time,
I toasted his rantings with tequila and lime.

When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I though that my hard drive had busted a platter!
Away to the door I flew down the stairs,
The tequila now tangling my legs unawares.

I landed at last on linoleum tile,
And had time to think, "That'll hurt for awhile."
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a sleek police cruiser drawing ever so near.

I groped for the doorway to turn on the switch,
And knew in a moment it must be St. Rich!
People were pouring from the back of his ride,
And he shouted their names with a face full of pride.

On SLAMBIE, on SIMON, and ol' BCR!
On ANDY, on CHAOZ, TILT get outta the car!
On KAIGEN and JSHAW, BLACKHAWK and TIM!
Come on ATB, let's not forget him!

On RITTCHARD and KELRIC, RRMORTON and MACHINE!
DAVEMAN and MR. FED, stop making a scene!
On TRIGGERCUT, SNIFFDUDE, NAPOLEON too!
NAEDNEK and GOLLUM, come on, get a clue!

The rest of them waited in the back of the car,
But I knew they were watching the fun from afar.
Rich's eyes how they twinkled, his dimples how merry!
I ditched the tequila, this was getting too scary!

Rich picked up a bag, it was stamped with "EB"
And smiled as he proudly bestowed it to me.
"A fantastic gift from GG to you,
I think this will give you something to do."

Morrowind! Morrowind! What else could it be?
I slammed the door in his face and ran to the PC.
Oh thank you Rich, my ship has come in!
Thank you GGers! And thank Rich again!

I tore off the bag and grabbed the CD,
No reading of manuals or boxes for me!
But before I installed I noticed a note-
It was from Rich, and here's what he wrote:

"Thank you for being a part of Gone Gold,
Your long-winded posts just never get old.
Your attempts at humor are simply fantastic,
And in case you're wondering, yes I'm being sarcastic.

So here is a game that I think you have earned,
But it's not Morrowind for which you have yearned.
Yep, John Romero wants to make you his bitch.
Have fun, signed Gone Golders, and best wishes, Rich.

And up on the screen there said, "DAIKATANA"
And my screams pierced the night from Maine to Montana.
Now I sit in the dark and vow my revenge,
Something to make all the forums just cringe!

At last I had fathomed a brill-i-ant scheme,
A post of bad poetry for the whole Gone Gold team!
Telling ths story of that horrible fright!
Here it is you jerks! HAPPY MORROWIND NIGHT!

walking in
sitting down
naturally you
glance around
on the floor
about to dance
with smallish legs
in smallish pants
a character
with features drawn
from ages past
and yet to dawn
you down an ale
a few a forth
you watch the dance
you watch the dwarf

***

let me tell you
bout thoreandan
the man who bit off
the dragon's hand
no blows from his
sword ever did land
so he bit off
the dragon's hand

paws and claws
could be the cause
of anyone here's
demise
