For an old game it has a large player base and still growing.
Personally Ive had it for years and I still play SP. In vanilla mode it can easily last a year, and after that there are loads of maps and mods and 3rd party programs to put new excitement back in. Patches, upgrades, and additions are all free. Ive paid as much for many games that were prettier but didnt last a month on my machine
