UFO found on ocean floor?

Postby msduncan » Wed Aug 03, 2011 6:21 pm

A company that explores the ocean floor for sunken ships, treasure, etc based out of Sweden recently snapped the following image via sonar:

Image

The object is over 130 feet across, and they have no idea what it might be. Apparently they are going to try to get better looks at it.

Link to site of company:

Link
It's 107 first team All-Americans.
It's a college football record 60 bowl appearances.
It's 34 bowl victories.
It's 23 Southeastern Conference Championships.
It's 15 National Championships.

At some places they play football. At Alabama we live it.

I'm not quite sure the UFO moniker is correct here. Perhaps USO would be better? Considering they found it like a month ago and we're all still here, that's probably a good sign.

Google suggests:

There are 14,057 major wrecks that have been visited.

There are 17,147 known wrecks that have not yet been reached by treasure hunters or archaeologists

Those seem like some pretty specific numbers -- so whoever made them up knew they'd sound more authoritative not rounding them off.

I don't think it would be all that difficult to verify numbers of wrecks professionally visited, or known wrecks that have not been reached. They don't say anything about estimating unknown wrecks.

I could tell you exactly how many known archaeological sites there are in Alberta (at work, where I could look it up). But I wouldn't hazard a guess as to how many we haven't discovered.

Oh, there's a huge UFO sub-movement devoted to USOs.

Going to have to go with pareidolia here. I mean it could even be man made but of all the possibilities, a UFO/USO is way way down the list.

Also the with the primitive nature of the website, I'm not sure that I have complete faith in the veracity or accuracy of this claim.

Law,

Don't judge the company by the website. This company has been busy unearthing submerged treasure, such as vintage wines, etc over the last few years.

They are definitely legit. They aren't claiming that this is a UFO, but rather just saying that this is extremely unusual in size and shape and that it merits further investigation.

Ok, well I'll trust you that they're legit but I'll stick with pareidolia. But I'm still interested in any further investigation.

I'd be willing to bet that most of the numbers on ship wrecks come from insurance records - not historic books or tales ... but instead from pissed-off underwriters that are probably still grumbling about having to pay out to Jerimiah Rosettia back in 1749 when his goddamn sloop sunk during a storm, costing them tens of hundreds in losses.

The find looks pretty cool. Can't wait to see what it really was. Probably something as mundane as a stone foundation that someone threw into the water at the right angle and it gained speed as it fell, but it's shape caused it to slide through the water and not just sink.

It's an alien monolith. It entered earth's gravity with such force it impaled itself into the ocean floor. The top was sheared off over the years, broken into pieces, and scattered.

A team of shipwreck hunters that found a strange circular object on the floor of the Baltic Sea in 2011 now says they have discovered visual evidence of a second "disc-like shape" some 200 meters from the original find, CNN reports.
